Double or leave? This is the fateful question that is inevitably asked and re-proposed in this period Antonio Gerini, Chairman of the Massese. "If I had to answer now I would say that I am staying because there are no concrete alternatives on the table". The sole shareholder of the black and white club clarified that he returned to Massa just before the Easter holidays and will leave again in a few days for work.
"I'm taking advantage of these few days available to meet as many people as possible – explained the owner –. I'm hearing from everyone, also for the sake of fairness, but there are no negotiations that are well underway and much less in the closing phase. We're talking about a company that cannot be taken thinking only of doing business. At the base you need a component of passion, of desire to invest. I get to the end every year with difficulty, I do not hide it, because I am alone and it is not easy to honor all the commitments but taking away Massese would be like cutting off my hand. For this reason, if I had to stop, I would like to do it leaving it in good hands knowing that it would not mean having to pull the plug in a short time. The ideal would be to find someone who would allow a handover gradual with the possibility of maintaining a role in the company for a period. We are talking, however, of hypotheses because I repeat that at the moment there is nothing concrete. Precisely because there are no signs of a possible change on the horizon we are starting to plan the next season also looking for the right collaborators. I would say that at the team level this time, unlike the previous year, we have a good core from which to start again. It would be enough to add 3 or 4 elements of experience to fight for the top positions. This season we were unable to achieve the play-off objective due to our shortcomings but also because at the base there was a good percentage of bad luck in the form of many injuries and also adverse refereeing episodes".
President Gerini is currently having internal talks with his staff, external talks with possible buyers, but he also has a meeting with the municipal administration in store. "We will certainly contact each other to set up a meeting to take stock of the situation. Relations with the administration remain good and there is the will on both sides to pursue the good of Massese".
