A defeat on the field of the second force of group 1: the performance was there, but the point gained is not enough to overtake Avezzano. And with the defeat against Biella, which occurred on the last day of the 2024/25 Serie A championship, the Cavalieri Union are officially relegated: they will still remain in A, but (except for any repechages) they will start again from group 2 and not from the "merit" group. The defeat of Avezzano, third from last, against Verona was of no avail: the Biella team won 48-28 at home and even though Alberto Chiesa's men rose to 32 points in the tournament standings, they were unable to snatch eighth place from the Abruzzese team (at 34 points), which would guarantee their permanence in the "elected" group. In the last match of the Serie A championship that ended yesterday, the Biella team started with a try and, apart from the temporary draw achieved with a try by Guidoreni converted by Puglia, they always stayed ahead. "We missed important points during the season, which we would not have stolen - Chiesa commented - Biella is stronger than us, but we created and made a lot of mistakes. This championship has shown us where we need to grow. Montano? We hope to have him back as soon as possible". Also the sporting director Francesco Fusi, in complimenting the boys, reiterated the quality of the technical project and reiterated the importance of having the pitch available again. "At a planning level nothing changes, both from the youth teams and from the "cadetta" positive feedback continues to arrive - he said - we will still remain in Serie A, even if in group 2, and we will move forward".
