Rome, 9 March 2025 – Blue triumph at the European Indoor Athletics Championships 2025. The sprinter Zaynab Dosso won the gold medal in the 60 meters with a time of 7.01, which is the new Italian record. It is the third gold medal for Italy, yesterday the triumph of Larissa Iapichino in the long jump and Andy Diaz Hernandez in the men's triple jump.

"I am very happy, because I wanted this gold. I was good at making a great 'second start'. I'm happy for my team and my coach. Our efforts have paid off. When I get on the track I always want to get to the front. I'm growing day after day and I feel more and more mature and solid". These are the words of Zaynab Dosso, speaking to RaiSport, after winning the gold medal in the women's 60 metres at the European Indoor Athletics Championships, with a national record and best world performance of the year.

A bolt of lightning lights up the last evening of the European Indoor Athletics Championships in Apeldoorn. It's Zaynab Dosso, a splendid gold medalist in the 60 meters, finished with a time of 7''01, an Italian record. Dosso also set the best world time of the season. Behind her came Swiss Mujinga Kambundji and Luxembourg's Patrizia van der Weken.

IERI (Yesterday) Larissa Iapichino she won the gold in the long jump. A rising race for the 2002 class, reigning European outdoor silver medalist (Rome 2024), who opened at 6.71 and then found the measure of victory on the third attempt. Season best of 6.94 for the Italian, who redeems in a big way the disappointment of fourth place at the Paris Olympic Games. Beating the Swiss Annik Kalin (national record of 6.90) and the German Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020, and silver in Paris 2024, Malaika Mihambo (6.88).

Yesterday's second gold medal bears the signature of Andy Diaz HernandezThe Italian-Cuban took the top step of the podium in the triple jump, touching 17.71 on his penultimate attempt. He beat German Max Hess, who took silver with a 17.43 found on his first attempt.

The final day of the European Indoor Championships was marked by moments of fear during the women's 3000 metres final. Dutch Maureen Koster, hooked from behind, ends up on the ground, hits her head and remains unconscious in the first lane. The 32-year-old local athlete, immediately rescued, did not seem to regain consciousness: while the others continued to run, Koster was carried away from the stadium on a stretcher.

"He is conscious and cooperating after the bad fall" the Dutch athletics federation reassured. Koster – writes the The Telegraph – she was nevertheless taken to hospital for medical checks.
