Marcell Jacobs
Bologna, 26 August 2024 – A 9"93 without excessively shining, but which represents a good amount of confidence in view of the Golden Gala. After 9"85 of Olympics, good fifth place not far from the podium, Jacobs confirms himself a few hundredths of the best in the world, he won in Chorzow Kerley in 9”87, and his appears to be a long-term program after having changed coach several months ago and also having changed his life by going to train in the States. First, however, there is the Golden Gala in Rome, a sort of delicious encore dish after the European Championships a couple of months ago. Jacobs is convinced he can run strong at the Olimpico and promises a fight.
Jacobs: “I want to run fast”
Fourth in Chorzow, Marcell Jacobs now he wants to end the season in the best possible way with a Golden Gala on his shields. The former Olympic champion promises battle after 9"93 in Poland, a handful of cents behind Fred Kerley. We are looking for a sharp performance at the Olimpico, at home, with the support of the Italian fans: “We have a few days to prepare for the Golden Gala – his words to federal channels after the match in Poland – I want to run even faster even if after the Olympics the mentality dropped a bit, but I wanted to compete and the feeling was quite good. I finished a few cents behind the first like in Paris. We are there." Jacobs he didn't win a medal again at the Olympics, but he still showed that he did a good job and his last few outings have all been under ten seconds. Jacobs appears to be growing, even if the race, in some situations, is still not as fluid as it used to be. It's a process that takes time and Jacobs in fact he is already looking to the future beyond the Golden Gala. This is his comment on social media: “The decision to change everything continues to bear fruit. After the Olympics I felt a little mentally drained, but it was important to find the right feedback. Next year will be important and I'm sure we will achieve great results." Interesting day in Chorzow, with drums returned to triumph, he will also be there at the Golden Gala and will probably continue his competitive career, but also with Leonardo Locksmiths, which after the Olympic disappointment returned above 22 meters. 22.03 for the blue, surpassed only by Crouser, 22.12 and Kovacs, 22.14. He too will be at the Golden Gala on August 30th: “I need the warmth of the Olimpico and I want to demonstrate that Paris was just a negative episode. Life goes on. It will be a decisive race for my career." Nadia will also be competing among the big Italians Battocletti in the middle, Lorenzo Simonelli in the 110 hurdles and Andy Diaz in the triple jump. Two of these, Battocletti and Diaz, medaled in Paris.
