They had to win, they won. By beating Nuoto Catania in game 3 of the playout finals, Rari Nantes Florentia achieved safety: next year they will play in A1 and it is no small achievement for a young team, newly promoted to the top division after three years in A2, which has played a good season overall. Catania, on the other hand, was relegated. As expected, it was a heated match, nervous from start to finish: the stakes were too high for both teams, who took to the pool at the Nannini in Bellariva with one goal: to win.

Rari dominated in the second and fourth quarters, after Catania, down by four goals (8-4) at the start of the third, had managed to reopen the match with a 3-0 partial. There were three decisive moments in the game: when at 5-4 in the second quarter Cicali saved Torrisi's penalty; when at 10-7 with just under 4' to go he repeated the feat, again on a penalty by Torrisi; the last when at 10-8 Bini and Di Fulvio scored a brace that allowed them to savor the joy of salvation. Among the other architects of the success, Giacomo Bini and Stefano Sordini, authors of 4 goals each.
