Lecce may not leave for Bergamo, asking for a postponement of the match due to the death of physiotherapist Fiorita.
Il Atalanta-Lecce recovery scheduled for tomorrow evening is at risk. Lecce is reportedly considering not leaving for Bergamo and has started a tug of war with unpredictable outcomes with the Serie A League, to request a further postponement of the Gewiss match.
Throughout yesterday, rumors of discontent among the Salento people were chasing each other over the postponement of the match by only 48 hours, from Friday to Sunday evening. Too little time to try to digest the pain and shock generated among the players by the sudden death of the 47-year-old physiotherapist Masso Graziano Fiorita.
Yesterday the Giallorossi players rested, this morning they will have a finishing session. The Salento club seems to want to hold the point, ready not to send the team to Bergamo.
The team coached by Marco Giampaolo (pictured) risks, however, paying a very high price. Article 53, paragraph b of the internal federal organizational rules states that "The club that withdraws from playing a championship match suffers the loss of the match as well as the penalty of one point in the standings". On Monday, Lecce could find themselves with 25 points in the standings, with a 0-3 by default.
Now the League will have to unravel the mess, which the Apulians would contest for having chosen to place the recovery tomorrow evening without their consent. Atalanta will do the final touches at the Zingonia sports center today, living the day as a normal championship eve, ready to play tomorrow evening.
