Sixteen-year-old Serena Rebosio sets new world youth record in endurance freediving at Italian Championships.

In the days when there is so much talk about the young phenomena who stand out in the world of sport with their records, there is a new name that is a candidate to enter this small group: that of Serena Rebosio. The sixteen-year-old from Paderno Dugnano, engaged in the Olympic pool of the Trecate sports facility in Turin for the Italian Sport Fishing Championships, has signed the new CMAS (World Confederation of Underwater Activities) youth world record for endurance freediving over the distance of 8x50 meters with a monofin, achieving a time of 5'36"66.

A sensational performance, capable of breaking the previous record of almost 24" owned by the Turkish Adasu Ramazanoglu, who had achieved it in Belgrade nine months ago, on the occasion of the Indoor Freediving World Championships. All for the satisfaction of the SSD np company of Varedo (Monza) and of the coach Walter Mazzei, historic guru of fin swimming and creator in the past of the feats of another great of the specialty like Stefano Figini, who for years has cultivated the young talents of the team, together with the other instructors and trainers of the Lido Azzurro of Varedo: "Our company has always invested in young people also in this discipline, we were certainly surprised by the speed with which this time was achieved. Serena had signed a time of over 1'40" a few weeks ago, she is improving with incredible timing because her strength is above all mental and at her age she has unknown margins for improvement". Six weekly training sessions in the water alternating with three days of gym work are the usual menu that the girl undergoes, on the road that leads to new goals already set: touching up the record in the endurance on the distance 4x50 meters, but before that, getting on the podium in the Senior and Junior Indoor Freediving World Championships scheduled in Athens from May 18 to 25, whose call-ups were made official by the staff of the Italian national team led by Michele Geraci and the technical director of the sector Monica Barbero. In addition to Rebosio, Giuseppe Fusto from Muggiò, Chiara Zaffaroni from Saronno and Marta Bignazzi from Milan will be present.
