Fredrik Dversnes's feat who yesterday won the fifth stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico from Ascoli Piceno to Pergola, for a 205-kilometer long route. The Norwegian from Uno-X Mobility preceded Mathieu Van der Poel, from Alpecin-Deceuninck, and the Spanish Roger Adria from Movistar Team at the finish line. The leader of the general classification, Filippo Gana, was unable to participate in the final sprint due to an unforeseen event. In the last kilometer he had to deal with a chain slip that forced him to make a quick bike change, but despite this setback, he remained at the top of the general classification thanks to the neutralization of time, having a 22" advantage over Ayuso and 29" over Tiberi. All thanks to the 3-kilometer rule that equates the time to those who, within this distance, have suffered a mechanical problem or a fall compared to the group they belong to, so in the end the Lombard cyclist kept the blue jersey.

"Never give up, that's definitely a basic rule in cycling," Dversnes said. "I had two pretty tough days because of the cold, but I regained my morale by immediately getting into the breakaway. I wasn't sure we'd be able to gain a good margin, given my position in the general classification, but we managed to stay ahead together. My sports director told me to give it my all, and 500 meters from the finish line I knew I could do it. For me, this first victory in the World Tour means a lot, it's a dream come true."

Today sixth and penultimate stage, Cartoceto - Frontignano (Ussita), for a route of 163 kilometers. Live television coverage starting at 15.15:XNUMX on both Rai Sport and Eurosport.
