Great victory for the white and blues who against Cantù achieved their sixth consecutive success
Bologna, 29 January 2025 - Sixth win in a row, 11th (out of 13 matches played) with Attilio Caja on the bench for the Fortitude Flats Service that beats Cantu 74-57 and in addition to continuing its winning streak, it reduces the gap at the top of the table, now to 6 points, given the defeat in Rimini.
First half of chasing, then Matteo Fantinelli and his teammates change gear in the second half, dominate with a sensational defense that concedes just 20 points in 20' to the Brianza team and scores a clear victory. Cantù starts better, leading 2-8 at 4' thanks to two triples by Moraschini. Bolpin tries to raise the offensive levels of the F that comes back on 9-10, before Baldi Rossi and Valentini push them back to -9 on 9-18. Fortitudo also ends up at -15 on 14-29 at the beginning of the second fraction (13'). Caja thus tries to mix the cards by reintroducing Mian as a tactical 4, to try to widen the field in front of the physicality of Cantù, all too much allowed by the referees, arousing the protest of the white-blue coach and the team.
The 5200 of Madison in Piazza Azzarita (Virtus players Clyburn, Tucker and Holiday were also present in the stands) raise the tone even more e the F answers placing a partial of 11-2 and returns to the game at 30-34 at 18'. At the beginning of the second half, Effe definitively overturns the challenge by taking the lead for the first time 43-42 at 14'. On the field there is only Caja's team that scores a 17-0 break extended to 21-2, for the 54-42 that at 27' breaks the challenge. At the beginning of the last quarter of the game two triples in a row by Mc Gee bring the score to 56-50 and seem to reopen the contest. Fortitudo is and confirms itself once again as a solid team, with depth and quality, holds the bar straight, takes control of the challenge 64-50 at 35' and scores a victory. On Sunday Fortitudo is back on the field, again at the PalaDozza this time against Vigevano.
