Matt Morgan: Virtus Segafredo Bologna's secret weapon in Euroleague
Matt Morgan turns into an excellent back up guard for Virtus, with growing numbers and decisive performances.

Matt Morgan, 27, former London Lions (Ciamillo)
More of a guard than a playmaker, more of a runner than a starter, but definitely the disruptive player available to coach Dusko Ivanovic. We are talking about Matt Morgan, "point guard" of the Virtus Segafredo Bologna. During the season in black and white he had a technical transformation from playmaker, where he still remains a valid alternative to Hackett and Pajola, Morgan is becoming an excellent back up as a guard, where he plays and moves with great efficiency. Starting from the bench, with his dynamism, penetrations and above all his long-distance shooting he is confirming himself as a real crack, capable of turning the game around when needed, or of giving the final thrust when there is a need to definitively bite the game.
The numbers speak of significant growth during the season. In Euroleague he has collected 35 appearances (5 as a starter) with an average of over 18' of use, almost 8 points, 2 rebounds and 3 assists, very respectable numbers for a rookie in his first season in the top European competition. In his private life, under the Two Towers he lives with his partner Marissa, a compatriot former player in the English league and their dog Ella. A big fan of American football, he admires and is inspired by Steph Curry, one of the reasons why he wears the number 30: he is a friend of the WNBA star Breanna Stewart and a fan of women's basketball. Matt's role model remains his father Lamont, a former Georgetown player in the 80s, in a family where his other three younger brothers are also basketball players. In the championship, after an up and down trend, between excellent performances and others less so, his growth has coincided with that of Virtus.
In the last 5 games, since coach Ivanovic dried up the rotations, he has scored double figures 4 times, confirming his excellent percentage from long range which stands at around 41.9 percent, the best of Virtus. In the regular season he has an average of 10 points in 20' of use, points and quality that Morgan will make available to the black and whites also in the next challenges with Varese, Scafati and Trapani and then in the subsequent playoffs. Twenty-seven years old, a native of Concord in North Carolina, the black and white has definitely increased his performance and his numbers in this final becoming an increasingly important element for the Black V. High School at Cox Mill and college at Cornell, first European experience in Turkey and then moving to the London Lions with whom he played an excellent Eurocup, an excellent Summer League in the summer. At Virtus he is making the definitive leap in quality.
