Virtus beats Varese 104-67 and finds itself alone in command
Fifth consecutive victory for the Black Shirt: Polonara wins seven consecutive points

Polonara scored 7 points in a row: he and his Virtus are at the top of the standings
Bologna, April 27, 2025 - Virtus clearly beats Varese 104-67 and flies alone to the top of the rankings. While waiting for the match that awaits Trapani in Naples, Dusko Ivanovic's team makes a quick dent in Varese and conquers the fifth consecutive victory.
Belinelli and his companions put in a quarter to get going, then with a suffocating defense and finding excellent solutions in attack they crush the Lombards and in the end they achieve a clear and questionable victory just in the first 10 minutes of the match.
So-so start with the Black Vs at the start of the comparison, he makes a lot of mistakes. Luckily Varese doesn't do much better, the -4, on 1-5, of the 5th minute seems almost positive for the black and whites who just never get us. After 5 minutes of non-basketball Cordinier uncorks the away basket; Varese initially held the lead in the match, with Dusko Ivanovic trying to mix things up and rotate 11 of his players in the first quarter, with only Holiday, in his last appearance in black and white, remaining on the bench.
The turning point in the match was usual suspects, namely Belinelli, Shengelia and Pajola which from 11-17 in the 8th minute, between the end of the first quarter and the beginning of the second, lead to the 14-0 partial that overturns the score and the inertia of the challenge.
The challenge it lights up with triples. Varese temporarily ties the score at 28-28, but Virtus returns to extend the lead with Belinelli, Cordinier and Polonara.
I'm very 7 points in a row from Achille Polonara, who surpasses the 3500 points mark in Serie A, giving the match a definitive twist, while Morgan's triple at the buzzer is worth the +15 with which the team goes to the break.
Upon returning to the field the the gap immediately exceeds 20 points of difference to reach the maximum advantage of +40 halfway through the last quarter.
Now Belinelli and his companions are expected by the Scafati away game next Sunday and then from the last decisive challenge with Trapani at the Segafredo Arena on Sunday 11 May.
