Ascoli is in free fall. The dramatic moment of Picchio continues and the recent series of terrible results that have seen the Bianconeri defeated four times in a row against Ternana (0-3), Perugia (2-1), Pineto (0-1) and now Campobasso (2-0), has generated a real red alert. This is not so much in relation to the many expulsions recorded by the team over the course of these months, but above all for the fact that that advantage over the playout zone is now thinning out more and more week after week. There is no longer any opponent separating Ascoli from the positions destined for the play-offs for salvation. Five points behind Cudini's men, Spal's hopes have been fueled by a Picchio that has been practically immobile for a few weeks. Even Lucchese, a club struggling with truly serious problems, has recently managed to string together some positive results and in the last round even managed to stop the leaders Entella. Proof of the fact that when you have the right motivation, anything is possible. In the hours following yet another heavy defeat against Campobasso, coach Cudini does not appear to be at risk of being fired.

Clearly in the event of another defeat, everything could change dramatically, although for the current ownership, taking on an additional salary with the very complicated economic situation that exists would further worsen the scenario. Practically nothing works on the pitch. The defensive department, unfortunately struggling with heavy absences, continues to systematically concede goals regardless of who is sent onto the pitch. The midfield, despite the arrival of Odjer, is still incapable of producing a reasoned maneuver and it often becomes clear that in addition to managing the ball, it also becomes complicated to recover it from the opponents' feet. Not to mention the attack where Forte has had another disappointing season between the disqualification for the betting case and the usual physical problems. The other leading name, Corazza, has completely lost his way and without his goals the rest of the team would seem to have no hold on them to get back up. Now the group is trying to focus their attention on the next opponent on duty. In fact, on Saturday at Del Duca (start at 15) Arezzo, led by former Bucchi, will arrive, having lost 1-0 at home to Carpi in the last round. The Tuscan coach himself has already announced that he wants to come to Ascoli to get a result.
