Bergamo, 4 February 2025 – Bologna by Vincenzo Italiano continues to amaze. And it does so thanks to Santiago Castro: a goal from the Argentine striker ten minutes from the end sends the rossoblù flying in Italian Cup semifinal, it hadn't happened in 26 years. Atalanta eliminated.

Scoreless first half

First call-up for new arrivals Posch and Maldini against Atalanta but they both start from the bench, Retegui is in attack. Italiano confirms Dallinga from the 1st minute in place of Castro, Fabbian plays in the three-quarter line with Odgaard who slides to the wing at the expense of Dominguez. First chance of the match in the 7th minute: De Ketelaere escapes behind the defense and shoots with his right, Skorupski is attentive and lifts it over the crossbar. Bologna relies on conclusions from outside to react, Pobega and Odgaard try: out. Dea chance in the 28th minute: another run by De Ketelaere who serves Ederson, a sure-fire right-footed shot by the Brazilian that meets the providential save of Lykogiannis. Red and blue trouble in the 40th minute: muscular problem for Odgaard, Dominguez enters in his place.
