Bologna, 6 March 2025 – The pursuit of theEurope of the Red Blue continues. Made the From the Ara an almost impregnable fortress and raised to a record level the home performance, the mission of Italian and the Bologna it's time to find your stride away from home. Starting from Verona.
Considering only the internal performance, the rossoblù are seconds, together with the Napoli, with 29 points in 14 games: just one less thanInter who, like the Neapolitans, have played one game less than Bologna at home.
Interview with Mandorlini: “Italiano's English football can bring Bologna back to Europe”
The average is 2,07 points per game in front of their home crowd, a record performance, from Champions, before Roma e Juventus (28 points in 14 games), better than Fiorentina (27 points in 14 games), Atalanta e Lazio (25 points in 13 games). And outside? Overall, things are not going badly: with 18 points in 13 games, Bologna is in sixth place, together with Fiorentina, at an average of 1,38 points per game.
Away fans at Dall'Ara: the buses in via dello Sport
The problem is that in the new year the braking: of the last 5 away games, Bologna has won only one (at Turin against the Granata, and it was the month of December), putting together three draws with Inter, Empoli and Lecce and a defeat against Parma.
That is, 6 points in 5 games, just over one point per game, which becomes a round average point in the last 7 away games, even going back to the draw with Juventus and the defeat in Rome against Lazio.
Away from Dall'Ara, Bologna travels to half the speed, in short. And yet, at the beginning of the season, when the transition between Motta and Italiano was still underway with its attendant difficulties, far from Bologna the rossoblù created the possibility of being able to animate the comeback in a European key: the defeat in Naples is fine, then came the draw in Como, the victories with Monza and Cagliari, a draw in Genoa and a victory with Roma: that is 11 points in the first 6 away games and an average of 1,83 points per game.
If last year the Champions League feat was built match by match, moving the goal ever further forward, this season the club and the coach have raised the bar of responsibility and objectives, immediately setting the goal of Europe. Italiano reiterated this even after the last victory against Cagliari.
With a clarification: "If we want to give ourselves some satisfaction, we have to do better: especially away from home, starting from Verona". It is impossible to ask more from the team at Dall'Ara, after 5 consecutive victories, if not to increase the level of attention and limit comeback victories, which take away physical and mental energy.
But they are needed heavy points away against Verona, Venezia, Atalanta, Udinese, Milan and Fiorentina to continue cultivating the objective of Europe.
