Abstinent since November, he gets going on the Carrarese pitch. Maran's Brescia immediately wins away
The Tuscans waste the penalty that gave them the lead, the Rondinelle take flight and close the match in the first half

Massimo Bertagnoli's celebration after scoring Brescia's lead
by Luca MarinoniThe new adventure of Roland Maran on the bench of the Brescia. The Rondinelle win 2-1 at the home of Carrarese after three months of abstinence from victory (the last success was on November 3rd at Sampdoria's home, again with the Trentino coach at the helm). A new away blitz that not only brings the white and blues back to +3 from playout area and +4 on the relegation direct, but offers a precious injection of confidence in view of the upcoming commitments (starting with Friday night's advance at the "Rigamonti" with Salernitana). Mister Maran's choices for his white and blue return do not spare some surprises. On the eve of the match, the coach has to register the forfeit of captain Bisoli, stopped by a bout of flu. For the delicate challenge with a Carrarrese hungry for points, Brescia thus pairs Bertagnoli and Besaggio with the returning playmaker Verreth, while up front Borrelli is the offensive terminal, supported by the creativity of Nuamah and Olzer. In the 26th minute, the home team could have unlocked the result with a penalty that is awarded by the VAR for a foul by Lezzerini. The white and blue goalkeeper, however, outdoes himself and rejects Schiavi's conclusion. Having escaped the danger, Brescia mortgages the victory at the end of the first half. In the 41st minute Bertagnoli appears in the Tuscan area and with a lobbed header goes over Fiorillo. In full recovery Maran's team doubles the lead. The 6th minute of recovery runs when Giovane commits a foul on Adorni and the referee awards the second penalty of the day, which Borrelli converts, wrong-footing Fiorillo. In the second half Carrarese returns to the field determined not to give up: in the 30th minute Cicconi takes advantage of Cherubini's assist and shortens the distance. Brescia is forced to suffer and Lezzerini has to make some decisive interventions, but Maran's team grit their teeth and bring home a more than precious victory, which could represent the turning point of the championship for the Rondinelle.
