Aston Villa-Juventus, Motta in emergency. Probable formations and TV schedule
Bianconeri with many absences. Facing a team that is struggling in the Premier League, but has already obtained three victories in the Champions League

Weah's exultation
Birmingham, 27 November 2024 - It's a Juventus absolutely in emergency the one that is preparing to face the match with theAston Villa, valid for the fifth day of the Champions League. The Bianconeri are short of men, especially in attack. But this does not mean that the Old Lady will not try to get the third European victory of the season. Up to now Madama has beaten psv Eindhoven and RB Leipzig, tied with the Lille and lost with the Stuttgart. The team led by Unai Emery, eighth in the Premier League, have started their Champions League campaign in style, taking home the maximum amount at stake against Young Boys, Bayern Munich and Bologna. In the last round, however, the Villans were knocked out by Club Brugge.
Previous
Unlike the previous four European matches that have seen the Bianconeri involved this season, the one against the Birmingham team will not be a new match. Few, perhaps, will remember it, but this is not the first time that Juventus and Aston Villa will face each other. The two teams, in fact, faced each other in the Champions Cup in a double crossover, in the 1982/1983 season, which we have told you about here in more detail, especially with regards to the match played in Birmingham. Double crossover that saw the Bianconeri obtain two victories in the quarter-finals of that edition, beating the English 1-2 away and, subsequently, 3-1 at home. Among the precedents there is also a more recent challenge, dated August 2, 2009, but not considered an official match. We are talking about the Peace Cup final, a friendly summer tournament that took place in five cities in Spain between the end of July and the beginning of August of that year. Juventus and Aston Villa faced each other in the final act of the tournament and on that occasion the Villans were the ones to smile, having overcome the Bianconeri on penalties after a 0-0 draw in regulation time and then in extra time.
Thiago Motta's conference
"We will face a great team. A team - he said Thiago Motta in a press conference - which is having very important results, especially in this competition. We will take to the field with great humility, others, all count for the qualification to the knockout stage. We are counted, we know it, but we are all fully at the disposal of the Mister. Injuries are part of our job, we are aware of it. I am happy to be an example for the little ones. I feel the responsibility, I like having it and I like trying to improve every day to make them understand that you can always grow. determined to play our game and respecting, as always, our opponent. I am always positive, I have great faith in my players who show every day that they are ready to compete and give their all. The new formula of the Champions League? I like it because you have the possibility of facing different teams and, consequently, it allows you to prepare the games in a different way. You face more opponents with a footballing idea different from yours and this aspect allows you to grow a lot. We had a good performance against Milan, controlling the game a lot and not allowing the Rossoneri to restart. We will play against a team that is very good at transitions. We must not leave space for their attacking midfielders, we must work together in defense and attack. Set pieces could play a very important role in the match. Emery? Like all the coaches I have had, I have tried to listen and learn from him too. I am not the one who discovered his path. He is a coach who has been at a high level for a long time, he deserves it because he has always been consistent in his work and is continuing to reap the rewards of his commitment. If Timothy (Weah) plays as a central reference in attack, I am sure he will play a great match and the same goes for whoever occupies that position on the pitch".
Cambiaso's statements
Andrew Cambiaso he spoke like this on the eve of the match: "Personally I feel very good. Playing is the best part of this sport, so I can say that it is a pleasure to take to the field so often. I am a big fan of football, in general. I also follow the Premier League and I think it is a very competitive championship, with many teams of absolute value. Tomorrow, in this regard, we will face a strong team and we will have to play a careful and dynamic match. Here in Birmingham we will face two teams that want to play football, it will be a great match. The match against Aston Villa will have the same specific weight as the first four we faced. There is no more important match than the others, they all count for the qualification to the knockout phase. We are limited, we know it, but we are all fully at the disposal of the Coach. Injuries are part of our job, we are aware of that. I am pleased to be an example for the younger ones. I feel the responsibility, I like having it and I like trying to improve every day to make them understand that you can always grow".
