Milan, 11 December 2024 – The Abraham's strike in the 87th minute saves Milan who beat Red Star 2-1 and string together their fourth consecutive victory in the Champions League, reaching 12 points and moving to -1 from Inter. The most positive aspect of the evening for the Rossoneri, who can now really believe they can enter the top eight, were the three points, because the overall performance was overall decidedly below par and just sufficient. Despite having started well, in fact, Milan risked something too much on the Crossbar hit by Maksimovic in the 17th minute. A scarecrow to which the Rossoneri, left without Morata and Loftus-Cheek due to injury, reacted by raising their heads and finding the advantage thanks to the splendid goal by Leao in the 42nd minute. In the second half, however, Fonseca's men fell victim to the ups and downs already seen several times this season and they left space for a spirited Red Star capable of equalising with former Torino player Radonijc in the 67th minute. In the end, then, the network of Abraham who, as mentioned, saved the situation.

A success that comes with a performance that did not leave satisfied first and foremost mister Paulo Fonseca, who appeared rather disappointed and disheartened in the post-match interview with Sky: “I am a person who is never satisfied just with a result. If you ask me, I say that I cannot be satisfied with the team's performance. I am satisfied with the result which was the most important thing. We won, we are in a good position in the standings but I am like this. These are difficult things to change and sometimes I feel tired of fighting against these situations. First of all I have to talk to the team to analyse the match and understand what happened on the pitch. The boys must understand that this cannot happen, but things are clear to me. It is not a question of technique or tactics. We arrived at this match which was decisive for us and we come out of it with the feeling of not having done everything to win it. The worst feeling for us”. Once again, the Rossoneri had to deal with ups and downs in the same match: “Ours is like a roller coaster. Today we do well and tomorrow we don't know. It's like tossing a coin and waiting for what falls. It's impressive. I know that I work every day to get to know the team better and do well. I don't know if everyone in the team can say the same thing. We had the obligation to get here and give everything to win but we didn't do it”.
