Turin, 22 October 2024 - Perin it's not enough for the Juventus. The saves of the Old Lady's goalkeeper - including the one on the penalty Millot - they keep his team alive until the 92nd minute, when The Bilal Touré freezes Madame, giving to the Stuttgart the first success in the Champions League. A German domination, in front of a team, the one coached by Thiago Motta, never seen in such difficulty this season. The black and whites, with 10 men at the end due to the expulsion of Danilo, they remain at 6 points in the standings.

The choices of the two coaches

Juventus (4-3-3): Perin; Savona, Kalulu, Danilo, Cabal; Fagioli, McKennie, Thuram; Conceicao, Vlahovic, Yildiz. Coach Thiago Motta. Stuttgart (4-2-3-1): Nubel; Vagnoman, Rouault, Chabot, Mittelstadt; Karazor, Stiller; Millot, Undav, Leweling; Demirovic. All. Hoeness.

First half

Aggressive start by the Germans, who immediately make themselves seen in the 3rd minute with a weak conclusion by Mittelstadt. Undav also tries after Fagioli's lost ball, but his right-footed shot is deflected out by the Juventus defense. The guests are still in evidence in the 7th minute, when Vagnoman's header ends just wide. Stuttgart gets to the conclusion quite easily: in the 11th minute Undav fails to hit the target. The Old Lady struggles against the opponent's pressure. In the 22nd minute Perin's reflexes are needed to anticipate Leweling and avoid trouble. Hoeness's team plays really well, coming close to taking the lead in the 28th minute with Demirovic: on Leweling's assist, the Bosnian striker's shot hits the post after Perin's touch. The Juventus goalkeeper is again the protagonist in the 41st minute, when Undav's header from close range forces him to make a complicated save. Stuttgart only needs a goal: the 0-0 at half-time is a bargain for Madama.

Second half

The second half begins with a huge scare for the home team, when after two minutes of play Undav - launched by Mittelstadt - surprises Danilo and beats Perin. The Germans' goal is however disallowed for a handball by Undav. Thiago Motta is not at all satisfied with his team and so he makes three changes: Locatelli, Cambiaso and Weah come in for McKennie, Conceicao and Savona. The music doesn't change though: in the space of a minute two great saves from Perin are needed to deny Demirovic (who immediately makes way for the former Atalanta player El Bilal Touré) and Leweling a goal. In the 66th minute signs of the Piedmontese awakening: Thuram comes close to scoring, when Chabot's save almost on the line is providential on his right foot, then Yildiz's shot is blocked by Nubel. Thiago Motta takes Vlahovic off the pitch, replacing him with Adzic, and in the meantime Stuttgart seems to be slightly declining. The locals breathe more in phase and in the 79th minute Vagnoman's coverage is fundamental to anticipate Yildiz, ready to transform Weah's cross into a goal. In the 81st minute Danilo makes a mess: the Juventus captain touches Rouault on the thigh in his own area. After reviewing the episode at the VAR, the referee Kourgheli whistles for a penalty and sends off the Brazilian, who has already been cautioned. He steps up to the spot Millot, upon which Perin performs a miracle. The Bianconeri goalkeeper can do nothing about the insertion of El Bilal Touré, which inflates the net. The Old Lady's reaction is not enough: Stuttgart passes to the Allianz Stadium, inflicting on the Turin team the first defeat of the Thiago Motta era.
