Milan, 11 December 2024 – The three consecutive victories obtained against Bugge, Real Madrid and Slovan Bratislava have relaunched and not a little the race and the European ambitions of the Milan and this evening at 21pm (live on Sky Sport) seeks further points for the standings and certainties by facing Red Star Belgrade, a team that comes to San Siro with only three points to its name but obtained (against Milan's nine) after a peremptory 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart. An opponent to be taken extremely carefully and faced by giving one's all, as was also pointed out in the pre-match press conference AC Milan coach Paulo Fonseca: “It will be a difficult match because Red Star beat Stuttgart 5-1, but for us it will be a very important match because we absolutely want to win and get another three points. Red Star is a very physical team, that tries to set up the game but has its most dangerous weapon in the counterattack because it has three extremely fast attackers”.

Pulisic will be missing from the roll call, knocked out by a muscle problem in the match against Atalanta: “In Christian’s position I will have Loftus-Cheek and I have the utmost faith in him. They are players with different characteristics but who play in the same role, which is why I want the same thing from Loftus-Cheek that I want from Christian. Ruben is a player who carries the ball more and, with the Champions League teams that are a little more open leaving more space, I am very confident”. Theo Hernandez will also be a starter, who is going through a difficult moment: “I am seeing him well. He is training well. We are showing him what he needs to improve on and he has already improved in some of the things I asked of him”. The Rossoneri’s objective remains to pass through the first phase in the top eight: “I think the most important thing is to win the next match but I cannot say that I am not thinking about getting into the top eight. However, the match against Red Star will be fundamental. After that we will think about the other matches”.

Possible choices for Fonseca and Milojevic

Fonseca will once again rely on the 4-2-3-1 but with some changes compared to the match against Atalanta, starting with the defensive package in front of Maignan, in which captain Calabria returns to the right, flanked by Gabbia, Thiaw and Theo Hernandez. The pair in front of the defense Reijnders-Fofana will be immovable, while in the three-quarter line there will be Musah on the right, Loftus-Ceek in the center and Leao on the left, with Morata returning to the starting lineup also in the Champions League. 4-2-3-1 mirror image for Milojevic's Red Star: Mimovic, Spajic, Djiga and Mimovic will be the four defenders protecting the goalkeeper Gutesa. In front of the defense, the former Rossoneri Krunic will pair up with Mimovic, while Mvumpa, Maksimovic and Milson will operate in the three-quarter line, behind the striker Ndiaye.
