Milan, 27 September 2024 - The race for one of the first two places in the UEFA Ranking has officially started again. With the expansion, thanks to the new format, of the Champions League (and all other European club competitions) the Uefa granted to the first two nations of the ranking to be able to have one more team participate than in the past. Last season, Italy achieved the goal by finishing ahead of everyone and, to benefit, was Bologna who is now playing in the Champions League. The goal for our clubs is to confirm themselves at an international level, so as to climb positions in the ranking and reach, by the end of the season, one of the first two places that would guarantee the championship to bring five clubs to the next edition of the Champions League.

How is the Uefa Ranking and the classification calculated?

The points are assigned to the various federations after each victory, draw or passage to the next round in the Champions League, Europe or Conference League. Then, the sum of the points obtained by Serie A, for example, is divided by the number of teams qualified for the three tournaments. The number remains fixed even after a club is eliminated and for Italy it is eight (Inter, Milan, Juve, Atalanta and Bologna in the Champions League; Roma and Lazio in Europe and Fiorentina in the Conference League). The first update arrived yesterday evening (September 26, ed.) and at the moment the'Italy is in fifth place. In front of everyone neither England (even seventh) nor Spain (eighth), but rather the Czech Republic. Obviously, this is the first annual update and, therefore, a lot can still change depending on the European path that the clubs of that particular federation will take. Below the Uefa ranking table updated September 26:

1- Czech Republic, 6.300

2- Portugal, 5.800

3- France, 5.214

4- Germany, 5.000

5- ITALY, 4.875

6- Slovakia, 4.625

7- England, 4.625

8- Spain, 4.571

9- Sweden, 4.250

10- Austria, 4.200
