Cesc Fabregas, Como coach more than ever renewed after the winter transfer market session

Planning and ambition. With a fixed goal in mind: to reach the Champions League. In small steps, of course, but without losing sight of the prestigious goal that could be in the sights as early as next season. The strategies of the Como they are very clear, and the great investments facts in market first in summer and now in winter, they are the concrete testimony of the project (sporting and otherwise) that the Indonesian family Hartono, owner of the club.

In the session just concluded, the Larian club took eleven players (the latest in order of time were the Greek Douvikas and the Spaniard Azon) and then gave the green light to the exit of Belotti, who went on loan to Benfica. In January alone, the total investment is around fifty million (in the world only Manchester City, Leipzig and a couple of Arab clubs have spent more), more than the money put on the table by Milan and Juventus. A figure that added to that invested immediately after the promotion to Serie A, is close to 100 million euros. And so, on the shores of the lake there is a team that has become a real luxury good and a company that has the immediate objective of salvation, to then plan a successful future.

Como moved well in January. In a reasoned way, which not everyone does when their wallet is full. If Theo Hernandez was an idea that was toyed with for a few days, among the flagships of the market there is certainly Dele Alli, the most fascinating coup also from a media point of view: he arrived in the lake in December, as an interested spectator. He was signed after a month of trial and is now ready to relaunch himself after a negative period that lasted almost two years. Among the first "coups" is the midfielder born in 2000 Maxence Caqueret, taken from Lyon: he was paid 17 million, bonuses included, in fact becoming the most expensive purchase in the history of the Lombardy team. Another successful signing so far is that of the striker born in 2005 Assane Diao, a Senegalese naturalized Spanish player taken from Betis for around 11 million. What Fabregas and the managers wanted was a market made of ideas and talents to launch, but also of bets and “category” footballers to achieve salvation. And here we are talking about Ikoné (taken from Fiorentina) but also Vojvoda, who arrived from Torino. And then, as mentioned, Douvikas, a striker bought from Celta for 13 million.

Como, therefore, acted like a big team. Thanks to a substantial budget made available by a solid and ambitious ownership, given that the brothers Robert and Michael Hartono are currently the richest owners of a Serie A team. The sports director Carlalberto Ludi also has clear ideas about the club's future: "The ownership's ambition is unlimited, but this year we want to stay up. And then we'll see". Como doesn't want to give up Serie A (the team is currently 15th, with 22 points). To do so, it has invested a lot and is ready to give itself other gifts. Including a dream stadium.
