Barcelona Crisis: From Financial Chaos to the Dani Olmo Case
The Blaugrana club is counting on 120 million euros arriving from Qatar for the rental of a 'VIP' stand. But La Liga lacks the guarantees necessary to pay the player's salary

La Liga has blocked the registration of Dani Olmo
Barcelona, January 2, 2025 – The move by Balugrana 120 million risks costing the company dearly Laporta. Yes, that handful of VIP seats at the stadium to be sold for the next twenty years to the sheikhs of Qatar does not seem to go down well with the Liga spagnola. It happens that Barcelona, for decades one of the undisputed protagonists of European football, faces one of the most difficult moments difficult of its own history.
The case has returned to the forefront in the last few hours, when the League denied the registration of the two purchases of last summer Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, coming from Leipzig and Girona respectively, as, according to the body chaired by Javier Tebas, the necessary guarantees of financial sustainability would not have been provided. This is because their salaries exceed the salary limits set by La Liga.
The club was counting a lot on those 120 million which should come from the coffers of the sheiks. A majestic figure, which would allow to enroll both players respecting the financial fair play rules imposed by La Liga.
But for the court (decision arrived on December 31) it is a failure to respect financial fair play. A decision that has therefore significantly influenced the decision of the Spanish League, for which the Blaugrana would not give sufficient guarantees Warehouse payment of contracts of the two footballers. Not even the recent sponsorship agreement signed with Nike was enough to give the company's accounts a boost to encourage a positive resolution of the affair in court.
So now Dani Olmo and Pau Victor have disappeared from the list of registered players. But the club has announced that they are waiting for positive news today. If Olmo and Victor are not registered in the end, they will be free to sign on a free transfer with another company, with the Barcelona forced to pay all the money on their multi-year contracts.
