Silver Lion Award 2025: 35 candidates competing for the prestigious recognition

The traditional appointment with the returns Silver Lion Award, now in its twenty-third edition, which celebrates a Empoli footballer who has particularly distinguished himself throughout the season. This year there are 35 candidates for the title. Four goalkeepers, eleven defenders, nine midfielders and eight attackers, in addition of course to mister Roberto D'Aversa, president Fabrizio Corsi and sporting director Roberto Gemmi.

Last year, captain Sebastiano Luperto triumphed, while no one in the current Azzurri squad has ever won this award, even though two members have won other awards in the past: Mattia Viti won the Leoncino d'Argento Award in 2020, while Szymon Zurkowski was awarded the "Sauro Cappelli" Special Award last year.

In this first phase, voting will be held to choose the five finalists, and every three days the five least voted will be eliminated, until the five names from which the 2025 winner will emerge are reached, while a Special Technical Jury will award the Critics' Prize. Another commission, instead, will have the task of assigning the Special Prize "Sauro Cappelli", the Silver Lion Prize and the Silver Lion Prize. At the same time, the "Voice for Sport-Avis 2025" Prize will also be assigned.
