Marco Baroni, his Lazio needs a feat against Bodo Glimt (Ansa)

Rome 17 April 2025 – There is no future, only the present, tomorrow is a luxury that cannot be afforded to take into consideration. After a spectacular race, the Lazio finds itself with its back to the wall and on the brink of elimination, it can only rely on itself and its fans to overturn a complicated result and continue to dream of the trophy. Today at 21 pm in fact the Biancocelesti will take to the field at the Stadio Olimpico to face the Bodo / Glimt in the return leg of the quarter-finals of Europa League, a date with history at stake for both. In Norway the Lazio team capitulated, caught in the grip of the freezing Scandinavian cold, the snow and a team, the yellow and black one, very inspired, now in front of their fans there is however the opportunity to overturn the 2-0 suffered.

On the way there everything seemed to be going against us. Lazio: from the snow that in the hours preceding the challenge had hit the city of Bodo, to the synthetic pitch, to a terrible performance by the Lazio protagonists on the pitch. The saves of mandas have however allowed the Capitoline team to keep the result in an acceptable deficit. Two goals down is a tough mountain to climb, but one whose summit is visible and whose crossing is not precluded. There is confidence in the environment and after having emerged unscathed from the derby weekend, now they are aiming decisively to continue their journey in this continental cup. The Biancocelesti were in the first part of Europa League the team to beat: dominant on the pitch and always at the top of the table, even in the face of a not-so-easy schedule. With the new year and the knockout phase, injuries have undermined Lazio's solidity. The away game Bodo it can easily be dismissed as the worst European match so far for the Biancoceleste, but fortunately it has not totally compromised the continuation of the race. It will take a great night Lazio to be able to overturn the result achieved in Norway. The chance is to return, 22 years after the last time, to a continental semi-final: at that time it was the Uefa Cup and Mancini on the bench and dragged onto the pitch by the goals of Claudio lopez, Simone Inzaghi e Bernard Corradi.

On the other hand, however, also the Bodo / Glimt has a date with history. The chance for the Scandinavians is a good one to raise the flag of Norway near the top of a competition Uefa. Since continental cups have been played, no team from the country of the fjords had ever reached the semi-finals. The success of the first leg rightly convinced the boys from Kjetil Knutsen to be able to accomplish the feat. The environment, however, will certainly not be favorable to the Norwegian lightning. Playing at home for the Bodo it was a story this season Europa League: the balance is six victories in seven matches, with only Qarabag capable of winning at the Aspmyra Stadion. Away from home, however, the Scandinavians' path has been very different: just one victory, against two draws and three defeats, with two of these defeats coming in the knockout phase matches. It will be a great stress test for the team of Knutsen, seen as already in 2021-22, after a home victory, they had to raise the white flag at the Olimpico against Roma, in the first edition of Conference League

For this challenge valid for the return leg of the quarter-finals of theEuropa League, the Uefa has chosen an experienced referee to direct the match at the Olimpico. The match between Lazio e Bodo / Glimt it was in fact entrusted to the German Daniel Siebert. The refereeing team will be all German-speaking, including the duo in the VAR room. On the pitch, the Berlin referee will be assisted by assistants Jan Siedel and Rafael Foltym, while the fourth official will be Daniel Schlager. In the VAR room, Bastian Dankert and Benjamin Brand will follow the match. Siebert This will be his 37th direction of the season, only his 2nd in Europe LeagueAt international level, however, the German referee has 6 in Champions League, 3 in Nations League and 6 other international matches between various countries; in his homeland he has refereed 14 matches Bundesliga, 3 of Bundesliga 2 and 1 of the third series. Curiously, the only race he directed in this Europa League, saw the field Roma in the match against the Sporting Braga. First ever crossing of Siebert both with the Lazio both with the Bodo / Glimt.

Probable lineups

No calculations are done at home Lazio: the match must be won at all costs and so the best possible team will take to the field. It now seems to have ousted Provedel in the hierarchies, because even in tomorrow's challenge mandas should be the starting goalkeeper. To protect the Greek goalkeeper, the back four will see Crazy e Romagnoli in the center, with Lazzari right and Hysaj, favored over Marusic, on the left. In midfield he returns rovella after the disqualification, with Guendouzi at his side. He will return to the starting line-up instead Castilians, to recompose the typical attack of the Lazio team, with Isaac, Day e Weather in Zaccagni behind his back.

No big surprises are expected at home Bodo / Glimt, Knutsen should confirm the same eleven seen in the first leg. The defensive line with four men in front of Haikin, with Bjortft e Gundersen in the center, while Sjovold e Bjorkhan they will be on the lanes. In the middle still the captain Mountain to act as a lighthouse, with The river and the goalscorer of the first leg match Saltnes to complete the department. In attack High moves to the center, supported by Height e Blomberg.

Lazio (4-2-3-1): Mandas; Lazzari, Gila, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Guendouzi, Rovella; Isaksen, Dia, Zaccagni; Castellanos. Coach Marco Baroni.

Bodo/Glimt (4-3-3): Haikin; Sjovold, Bjortuft, Gundersen, Bjorkan; Evjen, Berg, Saltnes; Hauge, Hogh, Blomberg. All. Knetjil Knutsen.
