Milan, 10 April 2024 – Last details to sort out and then everything will finally be ready for the first leg derby of the Europa League quarter-finals between Milan and Roma, scheduled future, Wednesday 10 April, to 20.45 (the match will be broadcast live on Rai 1, DAZN and Sky Sport). An unprecedented Euroderby in which the Rossoneri and Giallorossi arrive in good shape: Milan are in fact fresh from seven successes between the championship and the cup, while Roma have changed pace since De Rossi's arrival on the bench and will be attending tomorrow's match galvanized after the success in the derby. The men will do the honors first - as underlined - Mister Stefano Pioli, who on the eve tried to keep the attention threshold high: “The fact of playing the first at home makes no difference, we are now used to doing it. It already happened with Rennes and Slavia Prague and we did well to take an advantage which we then managed. The same goal we will have tomorrow. It will be a challenge that will last 180 minutes and we certainly won't be able to finish it tomorrow, but we will have to try to gain an advantage. We will have to play with intensity and quality throughout the match. In these matches you always have to give your best individually and as a team." On the Rossoneri moment: “This is a Milan team aiming to win again. We are going through a good moment but now comes the most important moment of the season, the one that will decide, positively or negatively, what our path will be. We must demonstrate all our strength and that our ups and downs have made us better." On the other side there will be a Roma team that comes from two successes in the last three matches and above all from the one obtained in the derby thanks to a flash from Mancini. However, Mister Daniele De Rossi tried to keep his boys down to earth: “I told the boys to keep their feet on the ground but on the pitch I saw joy, smiles and a lot of commitment. This is enough for me. Does Roma have nothing to lose? No, we have everything to lose, because we are not here to be extras. Playing for a draw? You would have to be Machiavellian to play for a draw. We aim to win." The Giallorossi coach warned the team about the great qualities of the Rossoneri: “I am very afraid of the quality of the players and of Pioli, who I respect a lot, at Milan. He did great things with the small ones, coached Lazio and then led Milan to win the Scudetto by offering modern football. He has been able to continually evolve. Milan plays with harmony. Now they have found their condition again and when they win they do it by playing well and putting everyone in difficulty."

The possible choices of Pioli and De Rossi

Pioli goes for safe second-hand and proposes the now tried and tested 4-2-3-1: the main innovation on the Rossoneri board will be in the four-man defense line in front of Maignan, where the suspended Tomori will not be there, replaced by Thiaw, flanked by Gabbia and the wingers Calabria and Theo Hernandez. Muscles, playmaking and insertions instead in the midfield, which will be manned by Bennacer and Reijnders, while, after the suspension served in the championship, Loftus-Cheek will return to the center of the trio in the attacking midfield: on his sides, in support of the striker Giroud, there will be Pulisic and Leao. De Rossi will respond by lining up his Roma, orphaned in defense by Ndicka, with the 4-3-3: in the back pack ahead of Svilar, the run-off between Angelinho and Spinazzola holds sway, with the latter favored to make up the department together with Celik, Mancini and Llorente. The former Rossoneri Cristante and Pellegrini should be the midfielders on either side of the playmaker Paredes, while the attacking trident should be made up of Dybala, Lukaku and the other former Rossoneri El Shaarawy. Times and where to see the race: the AC Milan-Roma match, valid for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals, it will be broadcast on Thursday 11 April at 20.45pm on Rai 1, DAZN and Sky Sport.
