Ndour's firm choice. The 'box to box' presents itself: "I never had any doubts. I only wanted Florence"

Cher Ndour presented himself like this to the Fiorentina fans, with his new purple number 27 jersey and rather clear ideas on what to expect from this new adventure.

"The experience abroad was formative especially on a human level because I was in large locker rooms, in large environments: I was abroad for five years and I really wanted to return to Italy. I think Florence is the ideal place, with this new sports center, with these fans and this city. I think it's the right sports project for me".

What is your favorite role? "I'm the classic number 8, I love playing box-to-box but as the coach said I can also play in the attacking midfield. I'm available, I can play in all the midfield roles".

Why did you choose Fiorentina? "When the news came out that I could return to Italy, as soon as I heard about Fiorentina, all other doors closed for me. Florence was the right place."

Spalletti welcomed her back to Italy... "I'm happy that coach Spalletti spoke about me and I hope I can get to the National Team, which is the dream I've had since I was a child."

Did you speak to anyone before arriving? "Kayode had already told me something, here I found many Italian and young guys: let's hope that we all manage to get to the senior national team".

Why did you choose to go abroad? "I've always had a great time at Atalanta but at that moment I felt I had to change, I needed a new experience. Benfica also focuses a lot on young players, just think of Joao Felix. In France I was impressed by Mbappé, who does inhuman things in training. But at Besiktas I also played with important players".

What do you expect from your return to Italy? "Obviously I have been following Serie A for a long time: I believe that with my physicality it will not be a problem to readjust, because this is a more physical and tactical championship. I have already had the opportunity to speak with the coach about this too".

Is there a player who has impressed you more than others? "Fiorentina has a crazy history but in particular I am very fond of Rui Costa, who has done great things here as a player and who until a few years ago was my president. He has always been a great person with me, he has always given me lots of advice and I will always thank him for this".

A trophy in Florence after the Youth League with Benfica? "Maybe, it would be nice, obviously we have all the potential to do well both in the league and in the Conference. So, of course, the goal is to try to win something".
