Venice-Fiorentina 2-1: Viola shipwreck in the lagoon. Europe is moving further and further away
Little play, a lot of nervousness, and a bit of bad luck: Palladino's team loses badly. The first goal of the Venetians is disputed

Oristanio celebrates 2-0, Viola disappointment
Venice, May 12, 2025 – It couldn't have gone worse: Fiorentina loses in Venice for 2-1 after a dull match not straightened out by a final full of heart and nerves. For the Viola Europe is moving away with great strides and, given the modest size of the opponents (at the end of the match almost incredulous at having won), the absences among the lilies cannot constitute an excuse.
Already left Florence without Kean and Cataldi, Mister Palladino he also loses Gudmundsson before the match (physical problems due to the after-effects of the match against Betis) and so he invents a solution with Beltran as the only striker, with Ndour and Fagioli as half-wingers. The first half slips away between boredom and yawns: slow rhythms, imprecision, very few emotions. One in the 27th minute with a great recovery of the ball by Beltran that frees Fagioli: the shot is dangerous, Radu deflects it by diving. Then at the end of the half Ndour almost hits the crossbar in the 42nd minute, while in injury time Yeboah breaks free in the Viola area and shoots wide from an excellent position.
The race it will be decided in the second half in 7 minutes: Candé's entry at 60' (with the Viola defense in a daze) brings it forward to De Gea and it's easy to score. Here, however, there is a protest for a handball by Candé, but the referee Marchetti (insufficient, he whistles too much) validates it. At 67' Ranieri hits the post (with a deflection by Radu, on the counterattack Oristanio scores with a header (the Viola defense is always in a daze). From here the Viola attack, also pushed by the changes (Folorunsho, Adli and Colpani bring at least a bit of liveliness), they score at 76' with the usual Mandragora (his shot from the ground is noteworthy) but they can't find the equaliser.
Now Europe needs a miracle.
