Rolando Mandragora in action in Venice (Ansa/Mattia Radoni)
Florence, May 13, 2025 – The report cards purple after Venice-Fiorentina 2-1.
De Gea 5,5 - He can do little on the first goal because Candè finds him one-on-one; on the second he doesn't evaluate the trajectory of the ball that comes down in front of him, even though Fagioli is next to Oristanio and should help him. In vain
Pongracic 5,5 - Very slow start, as in the potentially dangerous opportunity created by Busio in the first half, not exploited by the Venetian forwards. Then slowly they recover and push forward. In the second half they slow down, with the whole department to be honest. From 79' Hit sv.
Mary 4,5 - He should have been the most lucid, considering that he had not played in the cup match. The imperfect is, in fact, perfect because at the start he is lucid in unravelling potentially dangerous situations, at least in the central area. Then at 1-0 he fails to anticipate Cande (he helps himself with one arm) who finds himself one on one with De Gea. He is unable to make his size count, because Venezia always keeps the ball low. Not by chance, in fact.
Ranieri 5,5 - He limits himself to controlling without excessive worries what happens in his parts, without running particular risks even if he is not always impeccable. Unlucky when Radu takes away the equalizing goal, opening the action that is worth the doubling.
Dodo 5,5 - He tries to fuel the Viola action and Venezia must be careful on his side. He thanks Yeboah's crooked right foot that first beats him, then graces him with a weak conclusion. Still convalescing.
Richardson 5 - A match without flashes for the Moroccan Franco who in truth is among the few to have the right approach, as well as the will to give impetus to the team. But the good intentions fade with the passage of time also because he is little helped by his teammates. From 63' Judicial 6 - He is the only one who plays vertically and it is no coincidence that the goal comes from one of his plays
Mandrake 6,5 - He crosses the Perez area at cruising speed, which doesn't cause him any particular worries, even though he should be the one to cause him problems. He runs in support of the midfield, especially in the coverage phase, trying to interpret the offensive transitions by going vertical. Or at least trying, especially in the second half. He deserves credit for scoring the goal of hope, his ninth of the season.
beans 5 - The first ring is his and Radu saves with an open hand. He has some good intuition, but he also stops at good intentions and doing his homework. But it certainly can't be enough. Guilty on the second goal of Oristanio.
Goossens 5,5 - He is not as explosive as usual, also due to the super wear and tear of the last period. He grits his teeth, but the tank marks dangerously red and it shows. The commitment is not lacking. From 85' Parisi.
Ndour 5 - Unusual position and he tries to adapt to the need. Nice flash at the end of the half, when he grazes the crossbar with a nice curling shot. However, it is clear that it is a role (second striker) where he adapts badly and the difficulties all emerge in the distance. From 63' Folorunsho 6 - At least it adds vivacity and aggression to a moment of collective anonymity.
Beltran 4,5 - For grit and commitment the grade would be much higher. In football, just application and aggression are not enough. You need concreteness. He has the whole weight of the Viola attack on his shoulders and he blames it. Heavy yellow: he was cautioned.
Trainer: Palladino 4,5 - When so many leading players are missing, the right jolt is needed from the helmsman, along with the motivation and desire to react after a disappointment. Because if quality is missing, aggression and determination cannot be unjustifiably absent. The exclusion from the start of Aldi, one of the few to play vertically, is perplexing. Ndour as a second striker is not convincing.
