Mehdi Taremi blocked by Iran-Israel conflict: farewell to Club World Cup
Inter striker Mehdi Taremi will not participate in the Club World Cup due to the Iran-Israel conflict.

Mehdi Taremi, 32 years old: in his only season at Inter, three goals in 43 games. Now he is in Tehran
It was June 12, four years ago, in 2021, when during the European Championships, Nerazzurri midfielder Christian Eriksen suffered a heart attack. He survived, but due to Italian rules, the accident practically ended his Serie A career.
Four years later, more or less on the same days, the news arrived of the failed boarding of Mehdi Taremi for the United States, where he was supposed to participate in the Club World Cup. The evolution of the conflict between Iran and Israel has caused civilian flights to be blocked and the striker has not been able to reach California from Tehran. Once at the airport he was rejected by the authorities and then reached a safe place where he is at this time awaiting developments. Since yesterday, however, it is certain that he will not be part of the team at the World Cup, not even in the days to follow. If the war were to persist, it would be complicated for him even to return to Italy, which would probably stop his career in black and blue indefinitely, just like what happened to Eriksen.
There was already talk of a possible farewell to theInter, but for market reasons. Taremi has one year left on his contract at 3 million net, after a first season with only three goals scored. He was and is determined to make amends, returning to the levels he reached at Porto, the ones that convinced Inter to bring him in. Today, however, the priority is to emerge unscathed from the conflict. The consequence for Chivu (presented yesterday) is that the offensive department is reduced to just Lautaro, Thuram, Valentin Carboni and the two Espositos, Sebastiano and Francesco Pio. The latter will not be available at least for the group stage, due to a knee problem he has been carrying over from the Serie B playoffs played with Spezia.
