Milan and Juve on the hunt for the sons of art

Thuram and Weah. Serie A starts again with names known to amarcord lovers. Players who contributed to making the Italian championship the best in the world, before the tournament lost its luster over the seasons in favor of the rich Premier League.

In the meantime, the boys of that time have become wise men with children of footballing age. Thimoty, son of the Liberian Ballon d'Or winner, is 23 years old and has won three championships in France, two of which when he was still a teenager and the last in 2022 with Lille, as a protagonist.

He is a US international (who was born in New York) and unlike his father, he has a thinner, equally agile physical structure, who convinced Juventus to offer 12 million for the price tag and a five-year contract. Agreement defined, if there are no hitches he will take the place in Cuadrado's external department, as his relationship with the Bianconeri expires.

Marcus, one of the sons of the former Juventus player Thuram, is instead contested by Inter and Milan. He is 25 years old and has already played in a world final with France. Two years ago the Nerazzurri had identified him as Lukaku's successor, who left to try his adventure again at Chelsea. He was held back by a summer injury just at the moment in which the parties were accelerating and with a forecast of a month and a half stoppage the Inter management decided not to follow up on the investment. He turned to Correa, a choice that later proved unsuccessful. Today the Argentine is on the starting list, even if he is resisting, but in the forwards department a place has already become free with the departure of Dzeko (who had a hefty salary of 5 million per season). What Marotta and Ausilio would like to fill by blowing Thuram to Milan, whose pressing in recent weeks has been decisive. The Rossoneri overcame the competition of Paris Saint-Germain, a goal that did not convince the attacker due to space reasons. It is difficult to think of having minutes against Mbappé or Neymar and although rumors of their departure are wasted, it is not known if and when they might leave. Now, however, the opponent to beat is the historic city rival, whose objectives also coincide in other areas of the pitch. The money earned with the sale of Tonali, who is leaving for Newcastle for 75 million plus bonuses, will be partly offered to Sassuolo for Frattesi, valued at 40 with the possibility of inserting counterparts. The midfielder, however, seems inclined to wait for the Nerazzurri, who should soon sell Brozovic to one of Al-Nassr or Brozovic (the Arabs will probably win) having the necessary liquids to return to the game. In defense Inzaghi will receive the gift of the expert Azpilicueta, 34 years old in August, long-time captain of Chelsea. He is about to free himself from the Londoners for free to sign a two-year contract with his future team. Doing the same with Lukaku, taking him out on loan again, will be a much more complicated undertaking.

Finally, Rafa Benitez is the new coach of Celta Vigo. The Spanish club has formalized the agreement with the 63-year-old coach, who has signed a three-year contract. For Benitez it is a return to his homeland after his brief adventure at Real Madrid in the 2015-16 season, which ended with his dismissal after a few months. Benitez also coached Valencia, Liverpool, Chelsea, Inter and Napoli during his career.
