Rome, November 1, 2024 - There is also Footballer José Castillejo among the dead of theflood that hit Valencia and his region. "Valencia CF mourns the passing of José Castillejo, a victim of the flash floods," his former club wrote in a statement, noting that the midfielder had "grown through the youth system to Under-18 level."
Castillejo was born in Valencia 28 years ago and had gone through the ranks of the various youth teams of the city club, before representing other clubs in the region including Torre Levante, Paterna, Eldense, Bunol, Recambios Colon and CD Roda. Eldense, whose shirt he wore in the 2015/2016 season, also expressed their condolences.

Valencia's match against Real Madrid today has been postponed and all matches in the region will be rescheduled due to bad weather. In recent days, the two city clubs have been actively involved in helping the population: the footballers Thierry Correia, Jesus Vazquez and Maximiliano Caufriez Valencia were spotted taking part in a food drive organised by the club at the Mestalla stadium; also the Lift u organized a collection at their stadium, where both male and female players pitched in.
Meanwhile, the sad death toll from heavy rains and floods continues to rise. At the moment the toll reads 205 dead, but authorities have warned that it could grow further given the unknown number of missing people.
