Juve: results, clashes and dressing room not in control. The Motta disaster is served
The Italian-Brazilian coach pays more for the management of resources than the tactical aspects, then the recent defeats and the Giuntoli talks: this is how he got to the dismissal. The Elkann-Scanavino meeting was decisive

Thiago Motta
Turin, 24 March 2025 – The internal discussions of the last few days were decisive in making the extreme decision: to sack Thiago Motta. The project born a year ago with the former coach of the Bologna, announced with great fanfare by the Juve as the cornerstone of the new relaunch project towards a winning and modern football. It didn't happen. These were the times, a year ago, of the indiscretions and rumours under the table about Cristiano's court Joints towards the then technician of the Bologna, who was having a magnificent season which culminated with the rossoblù's return to the Champions League after sixty years. It seemed like the right choice, the most convincing one: a young and modern coach, capable of strengthening and improving every player in the squad. On paper, all right. Juve wanted (and wants?) to stop moving forward by means of capital increases and to do so they decided to set up a young and sustainable project, in which to valorize the Next Gen players and to advance, also in terms of playing style, a team that hasn't won the Scudetto for too many years. Cristiano Joints, as seen after the Coppa Italia final, had long since decided to replace Max Merry, and there was a broad convergence in the environment despite a trophy won, to give the square an innovative and far-reaching project. Yet, today, many miss Max and in the nine months with Thiago nothing worked. The reasons for the disaster.
Poor results and draws in sequence
La Juve, all in all, it had not started badly in the season. The defense never conceded a goal, the balance of the team was evident and in turn someone up front found the thrust. But with the first defensive injuries, and in the search to produce more in attack, the Juve has begun to fray, to lose its defensive prerogatives, ending up risking losing matches even in the first half of the season (comeback on Bologna at 94'), abundant pathos also with the Venice, the risk of a coat at San Siro with Inter until the 4-4 comeback. The first small cracks here and there, then worsened in the new year when the defeat of Napoli had opened the first front of the crisis with a gap from the top that seemed insurmountable. The swan song was February, with four wins in a row to get to minus six, but the internal debacle with Atalanta has opened the gates of hell. Without forgetting, in the middle, the bad run in the cups. First disappointment in the Super Cup in January, then the two most stinging between the Italian Cup and the Champions League against two approachable opponents like Empoli and Psv. The debacle in Florence, and the continuous lack of reactions, did the rest.
The internal relationship and the dressing room that got out of hand
Evidently, to give life to a totally new project, Thiago Motta he had decided to follow the same line as Bologna, where he had no qualms about throwing Musa out Barrow or leave Marko on the bench, often arnautovic. It started the same way in Turin too, first with Church, but also Szczesny e refill they changed air, until the declared crisis with Danilo, who didn't mince his words in his farewell video for the black and white colours. And it's no coincidence that the player placed a fateful like on Igor's announcement Tudor. But at Juve you can't use the same strategy that was used elsewhere, because the prerogatives are different, the expectations are very high and the red thread that links the past to the present must not be cut. Thus, an unhealable fracture opened up and Motta, progressively, lost his grip on the locker room, with the consequence that the team, on the field, no longer responded to stimuli. The lack of reactions against Atalanta e Fiorentina they raised the alarm bell and the internal debate at the highest levels of the company led to the extreme decision.
Elkann has taken matters into his own hands
The story of the last days is well known. Christian Joints had reaffirmed his trust in Motta after the defeat in Florence, but announcing a deep analysis of the crisis to understand its nature. The week continued with discussions at all levels and the last one, between Elkann and the Ad Scanavino, led to the dismissal. The ownership would have taken control of the situation and opted for a change. Roberto's voice Mancini it immediately toned down, it was not his intention to only be a ferryman, so, also to restore the Juventus mentality and DNA, they went for Igor Tudor, who has experienced Juve both as a player and as Pirlo's assistant in 2020/2021. First of all, we need to restore strength and intensity and, as we saw at Lazio last year, he is capable of doing it. Second, we can reunite the locker room and bring back some excluded players, like Dusan Vlahovic which could be paired with kolo muani increasing the offensive weight. Kenan also needs to be re-evaluated Star, among the attackers. More than anything else, however, Juve is aiming to fix the defense after 7 goals conceded in the last two games. The only objective, and it is primary for the balance sheets, remains to return to the top four positions and ensure 60-70 million euros of Champions League revenue. And from today, even Cristiano Joints is under scrutiny for an expensive transfer campaign that has not borne fruit. Everything is up for discussion at Juve, but with Tudor they are trying to keep the course straight. Then, in June, a new project, perhaps in search of the right coach with the temptations of Conte and Gasperini that are traveling under the radar.
