Atalanta-Lecce postponed due to the death of Graziano Fiorita. The tragedy of the Salento physiotherapist

Bergamo, 24 April 2025 – A terrible tragedy shakes the Lecce on the eve of the 34th round of Serie A match against Atalanta: the physiotherapist of the yellow and red club Graziano Fiorita was in fact found lifeless today in the room of the hotel in Coccaglio where the Giallorossi were in retreat in preparation for tomorrow's match. The life of Fiorita, who despite being only 38 years old had already been working for almost 20 years at the Giallorossi club where he had arrived following in the footsteps of his father Fernando (another prominent figure of Lecce, who passed away in 2023), was apparently cut short by a sudden illness.

Lecce immediately announced that he will return to Puglia in these hours and that tomorrow's match against Atalanta will obviously be postponed to a date to be determined: "US Lecce, deeply shocked - reads the note released by the club - announces that Graziano Fiorita has suddenly passed away. The physiotherapist was with the team in the retreat in Coccaglio. The team will return to Lecce immediately, as tomorrow's match against Atalanta will be postponed.

In this moment of deep pain and total disbelief, in which any word would be superfluous, the club can only gather around his wife Azzurra and his children Carolina, Davide, Nicolò and Riccardo, his mother Francesca and all the family members". Condolences and solidarity from the entire world of Italian football immediately arrived for the Giallorossi club, starting with Atalanta who, as mentioned, should have faced the Giallorossi tomorrow evening at 20.45pm: “President Antonio Percassi, Co-Chairman Stephen Pagliuca, CEO Luca Percassi and all of Atalanta BC are deeply moved by the grief of the family and all of US Lecce for the sudden and unexpected passing of physiotherapist Graziano Fiorita.
