Future graduates De Berti and Nestola are going strong, they are golden
Another good day for Reggio Emilia's athletics, with coach Giampaolo Cellario scoring a double, leading Michele De Berti (photo) to the national university title in the 800m and Bokar Badji to the master's title in the 200m SM35.
Sara Cantergiani won silver at the university championships in Fabriano, while Lorenzo Blundetto of Atletica Guastalla Reggio won an excellent bronze at the Italian student championships in Caorle.
Let's start with the tricolor students, to say that Lorenzo repeated himself at his highest levels: he entered the race at 4,20, then without errors at 4,40, 4,50, 4,60, missing two attempts at 4,65 and one at 4,70. He won with 5 metres, an unattainable measure today, but the provincial at 4,62 is only postponed. All the results of the other participants, from 11th place onwards, were not exactly exciting, even if some were making their debut at an Italian championship. The future doctors from Reggio are studying and doing well: Michele De Berti (Unimore) wins the 800 in 1'49''30, seasonal and third fastest all time for him, at the end of a race always in front. Sara Nestola (in the photo, Cus Parma), ready, go, after 200 meters four of them had already separated the entire group. Sara didn't look at what was happening around her, she started shooting and soon she was alone: she finished in 16'47''89, third fastest ever, running solo. Sara Cantergiani was also good as she came second in the 400 hurdles in 59''77, very close to the provincial record which she improved again last Thursday in Varese in 59''71. In seven days she ran under one minute three times. In Acireale, Bokar Badji, from Reggio Emilia and member of the Modena Brotherhood, wanted a gold medal and after silver in the 100 he won the Italian category title over the double distance in 22''42.
