Mantova-Sassuolo, the red and whites challenge the league leaders with the hope of redemption

Mantua, 7 February 2025 – After the defeat against Modena, Mantua wants to make up for lost time immediately and demonstrate that you have the papers in order to reach the desired goal of salvation without too much anxiety.

The calendar, however, calls the red and white rookie to face an uphill test, given that the team of mister Possanzini, ex on duty on the occasion, will have to host none other than league leaders Sassuolo: “It will be a very difficult match – the same Virgilian coach begins – They have players of great quality, they are the strongest in the category. At the same time, however, we are ready to take the field with the aim of surprising. A match like this offers a lot of motivation and we want to demonstrate that we have the right qualities to achieve our objective, which has always been salvation”.

A purpose that has not changed after the conclusion of the winter market which led to Mantua two additions like Giordano and Paoletti and, substantially, has kept the group that began the season unchanged at the disposal of the former striker. To tell the truth, the company of president Piccoli has received several offers, especially for two talents like Bragantini and Fiori, but Possanzini, with his usual frankness, summarizes: "For them they would have had to pass over my body ...".

On the front of the formation that will challenge the black-greens from the 1st minute, they are not missing the alternatives to the Virgilian technician, with the central defensive pairing that sees Brignani and Cella in the lead, but there is no shortage of contenders for a starting shirt, as is the case in the three-quarter line, where there are at least six contenders for three places (Galuppini, Bragantini, Mancuso, Aramu, Fiori and Ruocco). For the rest, while Giordano is favored over Bani to play on the left wing (which Panizzi, who after having rejected several offers from Serie C, is forced to chase), the latest arrival, Paoletti, could compete for a midfield shirt with Trimboli (but also with Muroni looking for more space) to try to show his new fans his real qualities. Beyond the interpreters, as mister Possanzini recalled, what the red and whites must never lack against Sassuolo is courage. That desire to amaze and go beyond the obstacle that can help the "little" Mantova to become great with the top of the class.
