Club World Cup: Inter and Juventus will be the Italian teams in contention

Miami (United States), December 5, 2024 – The new FIFA Club World Cup to be held from June 15 to July 13, 2025 in 11 cities across the United States (Atlanta, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Los Angeles, Miami, Nashville, New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia, Seattle, Washington). This evening at 19pm Italian time, live from Miami (the event will be visible in Italy on DAZN, the broadcaster that will broadcast the 63 matches of the tournament in Italy), the draw ceremony for the groups of the competition will be broadcast, which will see 32 teams involved, as happened until 2022 in the World Cup for national teams. Inter and Juventus will represent Italy, which are placed in the second pot and will face respectively the four best in the South American confederation ranking (Palmeiras, River Plate, Fluminense, Flamengo) and the four best in the UEFA ranking (Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain).  

The formula of the competition

The 32 participants in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will be divided into eight groups of four teams each, at the end of which the top two will advance to the knockout stage. which will start from the round of 12. The rules state that in each group there cannot be two teams from the same confederation, with the exception of UEFA which brings XNUMX participants to the United States. In the event of a tie in terms of points at the end of the group stage, in hierarchical order the criteria that will be taken into account to draw up the final ranking will be: direct clashes, goal difference, the highest number of goals scored in direct clashes between the teams tied in the ranking, goal difference in all matches, the highest number of goals scored, the best conduct score in the “fair play” ranking and finally the draw.

The four bands

In first band the four European and four South American teams with the best scores are located here ranking, in the second the remaining eight from the “Old Continent”, which has 12 participants including – as already underlined – Inter and Juventus, in the third the two best from AFC, CAF, CONCACAF and the remaining from CONEMBOL and in the fourth band the remaining from AFC, CAF, Auckland City, the only team to represent the Oceania confederation, and finally Inter Miami, considered the team of the host country. First band: Manchester City, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Flamengo, Palmeiras, River Plate and Fluminense. Second tier: Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, Porto, Atletico Madrid, Benfica, Juventus and Salzburg. Third band: Al-Hilal, Ulsan HD, Al Ahly, Wydad Casablanca, Monterrey, Leon, Boca Juniors and Botafogo. Fourth band: Urawa Red Diamonds, Al-Ain, Es Tunis, Mamelodi Sundowns, Pachuca, Seattle Sounders, Auckland City and Inter Miami. Where to watch the group draw on TV: the group draw ceremony, which will be held in Miami, will be visible live today, Thursday 5 December, at 19pm Italian time on DAZN, broadcaster that will broadcast all 63 matches of the new FIFA competition next summer.
