Napoli, Gilmour: "We reviewed the games against Lazio: now we want to redeem ourselves"
After the two defeats against the Biancocelesti, the Azzurri are dreaming of a comeback on Saturday against Udinese. "But it won't be easy. Conte? He gave me a lot, as did De Zerbi"

Billy Gilmour (Ansa)
Naples, 11 December 2024 - In football, three days are enough to change perspectives: in 72 hours il Napoli he first came out of the Coppa Italia, once again in the round of 16, and then lost the top spot in the rankings. In between there was the two times Lazio, victorious for 3-1 e 1-0, and in both challenges he touched the field, to tell the truth without impressing, Billy gilmour, who spoke to the microphones of this afternoon Radio Crc to talk about what happened, but also to look to the future after what could have been two 'simple' setbacks.
Gilmour's statements
The Scotsman first spoke about his impact with a very warm place and a very strong identity. "I immediately felt and perceived this passion, which also characterizes my people. I've been here for three and a half months and the adaptation to a new culture was not easy at the beginning. Now, however, it's better also because I'm trying to learn Italian, even if I know a few words, but I know that this can be useful to help my teammates". Not only the habitat: for gilmour even the impact with Italian football has not been trivial. "The matches here are very tough in terms of organization: it is never easy to face the opponents. However, we work every day to make sure we get the highest number of points possible in the standings". Also thanks to a coach like Antonio Conte, which the class of 2001 had already known (and appreciated) during their common militancy at the Chelsea. "There is a famous photo from when I was in the youth sector and I trained with the first team at LondonIt was a very important experience for my growth: I definitely remember that team Cesc Fabregas as a great reference, who has certainly helped me grow on and off the pitch". Not only Tale, later found at Napoli: in the development process still underway gilmour Another technician, who we met during our shared experience at the club, also played a key role Brighton. "Surely Robert De Zerbi changed me thanks to a significant impact. He gave me many lessons that changed my way of playing: it was fundamental to know him in my career growth process. Between him and Tale there are some points in common: first of all - continues the Scot - both ask a lot during training, but at the same time they can give you a lot to grow and improve". A process that however, on a personal and team level, has seen the recent two setbacks imposed by the Lazio that have brought the whole world back down to earth a little Napoli. "We reviewed the matches. We are not happy with how things went, but under the supervision of the coach we understood how to be better on the pitch and how to help each other during the match to raise the collective level of performance. Having said that, there is however the desire to continue to be positive and proactive to improve and find better results". Maybe starting from the match at home toUdinese, scheduled for Saturday at 18. "We work as always to the maximum and we feel ready to give everything we have: we know that on that day we will need a strong performance to win". Finally a comment on the settling in of the compatriot Scott McTominay and relative comparisons with his own. "He is probably more advanced than me in the process. We are also studying the dialect and we do it through songs, but the first approach - he concludes gilmour - he was in the car with the taxi drivers."
Gilmour and the hypothesis of a change of module
In fact, between the two Scots McTominay, however even more mature in terms of his age, he appeared decidedly more attuned to the world Napoli. Also thanks to the position as a regular starter, which he has now earned: the same cannot be said gilmour, still a bit of a character in search of an author (and role). Until there in the middle is the totem called Stanislav Lobotka the impression is that the former Brighton be called only to have to settle for marginal playing time. This at least is the scenario painted by the 4-3-3, which has been prevalent for some time now in the area of Fuorigrotta after the summer experiments. Theaccident di Khvisha Kvaratskhelia, who risks having it until the end of the year, could shuffle the cards also to try to give new life to an attack that in the last few games, regardless of the final outcome, has struggled. It is no coincidence that, at least while waiting for the Georgian's return, a temporary switch to 4-2-3-1, a module that has already been tested in various retreats and in some early season segments: the aim is also to reduce the distance, both physical and metaphorical, between Romelu Lukaku and the rest of the team. With this scheme a sort of double low play could be a solution not to be discarded a priori, and in this case the hypothesis of a coexistence between Lobotka e gilmour. Not only the stop of kvaratskhelia and the offensive problems: without the Coppa Italia and without any other midweek commitments, Tale will also be called upon to try to give more minutes to all members of the squad to avoid the wear and tear of the starters and some 'stomach aches' of the reserves. In fact, among the considered choices made with the apparent unconditional surrender on Thursday night against Lazio there was probably this too. Everything was done to privilege the championship and, at least in the immediate future, the feedback collected was not the best. Now, faced with the first criticisms of friendly fire, Tale is called upon to introduce some countermeasures: among them could also be giving more minutes to gilmour, perhaps a resource that has been exploited far too little up to now despite the quality that already exists, the margins for improvement present and the investment made in the summer by the Neapolitan club.
