Italy's report cards. Di Lorenzo is reborn, that Bastoni ace

Rome, 14 November 2024 – Here are the report cards of Italy, mathematically qualified for the quarter-finals of the Nations League. In Brussels, the Azzurri beat Belgium 1-0 in the penultimate match of the group stage. 

Donnarumma 6,5. First half as a spectator, in the second half ready for Trossard and Openda, Lukaku spares him, the post saves him on Faes.

By Lorenzo 7. Definitely reborn, the assist is a reward for the optimism of the will, he comes close to scoring twice, the second time he misses it due to his own mistake. Decisive on Lukaku in the final.

Good morning 7. It's not Calafiori, but it seals drafts very well. One more certainty to count on.

Sticks 7. Solid and authoritative especially with Big Rom, also good at setting up.

Cambiaso 6,5. Diligent, in the first half he pushes more, in the second half a couple of gifts to Theate could have cost dearly (37' st Gatti sv).

Fraternity 6. He starts with the brakes on, then lets the horses loose, alternating with Barella. He risks giving away the assist for the equaliser with a reckless back pass.

Rovella 6,5. He doesn't tremble, he's tidy, he grows as the minutes pass as if he wasn't making his debut in blue (35' st Locatelli sv).

Tones 7. He unlocks it and then proves to be solid in the difficulties. First goal in blue that closes with the past.

Dimarco 6. Crosses less precise than usual, grit and substance, less flashes (23' st Udogie 6).

Stretcher 7. He immediately christens the new role of attacking midfielder by triggering the first goal with a soft touch for Di Lorenzo, then gives a winger to Modric who deserved to double the lead (35' st Raspadori sv).

Reach 6. A bit alone, he pushes less than usual, he has the second goal saved and then shoots out another chance (23' st Kean 6. You miss the knockout blow by waiting too long to strike.)

Coach Spalletti 6,5. Italy does not suffer for a while, in the second half it stops commanding and discovers fear despite the changes, and always on well-known situations.
