Bologna, 22 February 2025 – The first defeat of 2025 arrives for Bologna Vincenzo Italiano that falls to Parma since derby of the via Emilia, with Christian Chivu's first victory as a coach in Serie A on his debut on the Ducali bench.
For the rossoblù there remains the regret of not having taken advantage of an important opportunity to stay in the wake of the train fighting for Europe that could now move further away.
However, Italiano's team never seemed capable of turning the match in their favour and in addition to dominating in terms of ball possession he never made a proper impact despite having kept control of the game throughout the match.
Bologna's first blaze immediately with Miranda whose low cross goes across the entire area without finding the deflection of a teammate. Parma, however, responds immediately, with Bonny going away on the wing to Lucumi and Calabria, immediately proving to be a thorn in the side of the rossoblù defense.
The first few minutes are played at very high rhythms, with Italiano's team not giving up on attacking: Ndoye tries in the 3rd minute, with a nice back-heel turn but his shot, blocked at the near post, is easy prey for Suzuki.
In the first quarter of an hour, there was a lot of play in the centre of the pitch, with both teams struggling to set up persistent moves even though Bologna kept control of the game, trying to break through on the wings.
In the 17th minute Castro also tries, with a shot from outside the area that goes high on the goal defended by Suzuki. The minutes pass and in the 24th minute another opportunity arrives for Bologna: from a mistake in disengagement by Beukema it is the Dutchman himself who recovers the ball by sliding, effectively launching Freuler, the ball goes to Ndoye and again to the Swiss who crosses in, Cambiaghi gets on the ball with a header that goes out wide.
Lucumi tries again with his head following a corner kick but no one arrives at the far post to correct the Colombian's header into the net.
However, in the 35th minute an episode breaks the balance: the ball goes to Bonny in the area who defends the ball and tries to open it up to a teammate with the ball hitting the Beukema's hand, Abisso has no doubts and immediately whistles the strictness, also confirmed by a quick VAR check.
It goes right on the disk Bonny which displaces Ravaglia and puts Parma ahead 1-0.
The rossoblù try not to feel the blow, continuing the script carried out since the first minutes, possession and attempts to attack on the wings. The Ducali, however, close well, playing all behind the midfield line and so we go to the locker rooms, after 2' of recovery, with the home team in the lead.
Il second half It starts again with the rossoblù moving the ball without however finding a way to put Parma in difficulty, who closes well by creating a lot of density in the defensive zone.
In the 62nd minute, Cancellieri intervened on the edge of the area, sliding from behind and catching Cambiaghi, but Abisso did not have the grounds for a yellow card, only seeing the foul amid protests from the Bologna players who wanted a second card for the player who had already been cautioned.
There is a back and forth on the developments, with the ball never arriving in Suzuki's area. Chivu then immediately takes cover and changes Cancellieri, sending his compatriot Dennis Man onto the field.
Even Italian resorts to the bench, with Orsolini and Lykogiannis who take over Cambiaghi and Miranda. And it is precisely the rossoblù number 7 who tries to make himself dangerous with a personal action, freeing a shot after moving to the center but also in this case the ball goes over the crossbar.
Italiano's team also tries on the other side with Ndoye who sets up Lykogiannis, a low cross but Orsolini fails to make an impact on the ball, disturbed by Almqvist.
Parma strikes by taking advantage of a counterattack: Bologna loses the ball in the three-quarter line, Man defends the ball and then clears sohm and leaves no escape for Ravaglia crossing to the far post.
The yellow and blues thus go to 2-0 with a lethal counterattack. Italiano then tries to shake up his team again, sending out Ferguson for Moro and Dominguez for Beukema for a final all in offensive projection.
However, the rossoblù lack the right attitude and pass the ball but never manage to break through, and Parma even had the chance to make a third, with Ravaglia coming out to tackle Man who tries a lob but is neutralised by the Bologna goalkeeper coming out.
Fabbian tries to turn the game around with a header but his header always ends up out of measure. After 5 minutes of injury time, Abisso blows the final whistle, ending the hostility at the Tardini.
The rossoblù thus come out defeated from the Emilia derby. The team will now have to prepare the recovery with Milan scheduled Thursday 27 at Dall'Ara.
