Parma Reggiana 0-0, smoke bombs on the pitch

Parma, 2 September 2023 – After 33 long years Reggiana has returned to play super derby with Parma at the “Tardini” in Serie B: result, a good point that gives morale in the yellow-blue bedlam. Now, once the transfer market is over, there will be two weeks to perfect the mechanisms (there is the national break) with all the additions made in the last few days (Sampirisi, Antiste and Szyminski have already made their debuts). We will return to the field on Saturday 16 September: Cremonese will arrive in Reggio (16.15 pm).

Returning to the derby: an all in all fair draw, even if Parma proved to have something more in terms of the amount of play (for example, crosses, corner kicks and potential situations). The defensive performance of Mr. Nesta's team was invaluable: and, with a little more precision in some counterattacks, they could even have scored a coup.

The 6' of added time in the first half say it all: several smoke bombs thrown by the grenade fans (who, apart from a group arriving by their own means, entered the away sector in the 3rd minute due to the delay in transport between train and bus) forced the interruption of the game (in the 5th, 23rd and 34th minutes '). There was also a “Parmesan” smoke bomb in the 29th minute. Around the 90th minute another "grenade" smoke bomb. A competition within the competition, that of the chants between the two sets of fans.

The football played in the 1st half: two really tasty opportunities, one for each side. After just 50 seconds Portanova's cross, Pettinari misses, and behind him Libutti has a great chance but the left foot is "chewed" and is blocked at the last minute for a corner. In the 18th minute a sensational save by Pettinari on the line with his knee: the gored shot was by Circati. Lots of balance in the middle (Vergara did well in the counterattacks), even if in the last quarter of an hour Parma collected corners, putting pressure on Bardi (who, in the 50th minute, collapsed when hit by an object; everything returned quickly ).

NShe recovered the Crusaders' biggest chances they are from Hernani (high from inside the area in the 52nd minute) and Partipilo (shooting around in the 62nd minute, Bardi in the air well). Reggiana could have done better in several restarts by Varela-Girma, and especially in the 56th minute: Vergara breaks well, passes the ball to Pettinari, and Osorio sacrifices himself at the last moment, blocking the dangerous shot from the number 23. For the rest, nothing happens, and Rozzio and his companions return to Reggio with a good point.

During the pre-race, a window on the left side of the Reggiana bus was hit: broken glass.
