Pisa hosts the 13th time in its history Citadel: the home record against the Granata team is 4 wins, 2 draws and 6 defeats. In recent years the Nerazzurri have managed to improve a tradition that, towards the Paduan club, was strongly negative. Suffice it to say that from the first meeting, dated 10 October 1999, to the return to Serie B in 2019, Pisa had managed to bend the Venetians only in 2003 (in Serie C): the final 2-0 was signed by Ambrosi and Capuano. In the other six matches the score was 4 defeats and 2 draws.
From the season of Covid onwards, however, there has been a perfect alternation of victories and defeats: the successes of 2020 (2-0), 2022 (1-0) and 2023 (2-1) have been counterbalanced by the setbacks of 2021 (1-4) and 2023 (1-2). Returning to current events, around 140 supporters from Veneto will find a place in the away sector, while around 8.500 will answer the call of the club from via Battisti. On the field, the second best team for internal performance and the second worst defense of the entire tournament will face each other. In fact, Pisa, in front of its own people, has won 30 points – only the Sassuolo did better with 31 -, Cittadella instead conceded 36 goals. Worse than the Granata is only the defensive package of South Tyrol, which has already conceded 39 goals. You can also learn the comparison in terms of offensive production. The team of Pippo Inzaghi managed to score 41 goals in the opponent's net, placing itself once again behind only Sassuolo (53 goals for the black and greens). The Granata, on the other hand, suffer from the chronic difficulty in translating their play into goals: they have only scored 19 goals, on par with Frosinone and two points behind the 21 scored by Carrarese.
