Top Sunday in San Rossore with the 34th Enrico Camici prize and the 29th Barbaricina prize, two Main Handicaps that guarantee great uncertainty and therefore spectacle. With these two races we go to the very heart of the 'country of horses' and its sporting traditions, that is to the 'Barbaricina ippica' that was born in 1830 thanks to the enterprise of Jacopo Barchielli and a jockey like Camici, one of the most famous characters in the entire history of gallop. Thirteen horses at the start in the “Barbaricina, 1750 meters, with Exertive who must confirm his recent success, and eight in the “Camici”, 1200 meters, with Liborio as the favorite (provided he is not affected by his many, close commitments). A race that has become a tradition in the San Rossore calendar is the Circolo Filippo Mazzei prize that recalls not only the figure of a great figure (Mazzei was a doctor, philosopher, politician known throughout the world until the newborn United States of America) but also the intense activity of a cultural association deeply rooted in the territory with initiatives that range in various fields.
13 horses are present in this maiden over 1600 metres with a possible duel between Ciampino and Elegant Power. With the conditioned prize “Nova Estintori”, 2400 metres, the importance of having qualified sponsors in the context of the activities of a racecourse is underlined: Anthimus and Tatooine compete for success. Finally, the race reserved for gentlemen riders and female riders should be underlined, which is dedicated, over the distance of 1750 metres, to a figure of great sporting merit such as Pier Vittorio Zaini. An industrialist of a historic company in the chocolate sector, Zaini was also a passionate rider who won, despite being busy with his industrial activity, 520 races in a long career that often saw him as a protagonist also on the tracks of San Rossore. The passion of his father Pier Vittorio was passed down to his son Luigi, himself a gentleman rider for a short period, in which he nevertheless obtained 26 victories, before dedicating himself completely to his industry, after his father's death. Luigi Zaini has always remained linked to the world of thoroughbreds, so much so that every year, at San Rossore as in other Italian racecourses, on the occasion of the Pier Vittorio Zaini prize, his son Luigi puts up for grabs beautiful packages of sweets that are intended for the owner, the trainer and the gentleman or the female rider who wins the race. Seven races are scheduled, starting at 14,15 pm; these are our favorites. I race: Le Bagarre, Under Secret, Verbania; II: Tutti Eroi, Goggia; III: Billy the Glory, Dragomanno; IV: Elegant Power, Ciampino, Otello; V: Anthimus, Tatooine; VI: Liborio, Free Nation, Ottanese; VII: Exertive, Manning, Celtico Arcano.
