Great success for the "Uisp Swimming 2003" at the 18th national swimming meeting organized which took place in GenoVa, where the team got 12 medals and 31 finals in the 50 and 100 meters. The Cascina team showed up with 70 athletes, placing tenth out of over 30 clubs from different Italian regions, an excellent performance that bodes well for the upcoming regionals in March and the national criteria in April.
The young girl's performance was amazing Giulia Meucci, born in 2008, who, competing in the absolute category, reached the final in both the 50 and 100 freestyle and climbed onto the second and third steps of the podium behind the Olympic champion Costanza Cocconcelli. In addition, Meucci dominated the 400 freestyle event and came in second in the 200, going under 2 minutes, a time that currently places her at the top of the national ranking among cadets.
Always among the cadets Asia Red, born in 2007, conquers the butterfly finals by placing second in the 50 and winning gold in the 100 with a time of 1'01"56. She also wins a bronze in the 200 freestyle where she achieves her personal best. Virginia Mattei, born in 2007, surprises everyone in the very difficult 200 butterfly race by arriving third with a perfect race.
Three days of wonderful races also for the veteran Alexander Sonnets, born in 2004, who qualified in all the butterfly and freestyle finals, winning gold in the most anticipated race, the 100 freestyle, with a sensational time of 49"65 (his personal best), silver in the 100 butterfly with a personal best and in the 50 freestyle, again with his best time, behind only Olympic medalist Lorenzo Zazzeri.
They conquer the finals of the 50-meter sprint races Richard Zanelli in his first season with the orange jersey, both in butterfly and freestyle, Matilda Bertolone e Mattia Brambillasca in the backstroke race, Diego Salvini in style and Theo Faugno in the 50 breaststroke race. They conquer the finals of the 100 Mattia Brambillasca in the back and in the butterfly, Matilda Corucci, born in 2006, who after having narrowly missed the two finals in the 50 by a tenth, reached the butterfly and freestyle finals, Matilda Bertolone back and style, Diego Salvini e Richard Zanelli in style, Charles Gallerini in his first season with the Cascinesi after a one-year stop in the breaststroke race.
Great satisfaction also for the debutant Andrea Arrighi, born in 2011, in his first year in the "category" who lowered his personal bests by achieving three finals in freestyle and butterfly.
