This January market imposed a double challenge: to set up a transfer campaign capable of strengthening the team without risking to overturn it in any way; already winking at the near future even in the case of a different category. Easier said than done. Let's try to explain. If the Pisa had he gone for immediate big names he would have risked upsetting a united and very strong group. A mistake to be avoided like the plague. At the same time, if he had bought exclusively "supporting players" he would have strengthened himself little or not at all, also risking making completely useless investments already in four months in the event of promotion in Serie A.

Pisa's strategy has proven to be perfect first in ideas and then in names. The solution identified was to focus on young talents owned. As if to say: today I invest heavily in a player who doesn't destroy my locker room, who I can make play even less by gradually introducing him, but who - within a process of a few months - can become an element capable of integrating a squad even in Serie A. In this way Pisa has not touched the balance of Inzaghi's team but has strengthened it in the immediate and for the near future. With this "game" Pisa has given precious months to Solbakken, Meister and Castellini, time to prepare for our football and the top category.

In essence, Pisa's was an "early" market (that of young players for Serie A) and that is why it required a huge financial effort. The genesis of the Sernicola operation was different, as it followed other guidelines. In this case, a structural void in the squad had to be "covered" after Beruatto's departure and the injuries of Leris and Esteves in September. It is no coincidence that, for this role, the choice was not to go looking for "future-oriented" players, but rather for category certainties that could be used immediately. In short, an intelligent market before it was fascinating. Today we can probably give Vaira and Corrado an eight and a half in the report card, but the real grade for these operations (the one that could further increase the number) is expected in a few months...
