Sassuolo-Catanzaro: decisive challenge before the promotion party
Sassuolo faces Catanzaro in a crucial match before the promotion party, with historic goals in sight.

The party is ready, but before the party there is the match, and it is not a detail. On one hand the Sassuolo (mathematically promoted and first) who has already beaten the record of goals scored in the 20-team B league today, if he wins, can equal that of 26 seasonal victories (held by Benevento in 2019/20 and Ascoli in 1977/78) and on the other hand that Catanzaro against which the Neroverdi played their first match of the championship. It ended 1-1, it was August, and if the months that have passed have given the championship to Sassuolo, they have not guaranteed the Calabrians sufficient certainties. In fact, they are in full brawl playoff, the Giallorossi, and not yet sure of playing them: there is enough, in short, to expect a real match, which Fabio Grosso he can't wait to 'fill' as Sassuolo has 'filled' all those (three, 2 wins and a draw) that it has played in promotion acquired. A question of 'seriousness', and the black-green coach appeals to that too, not without admitting that he can't wait for the game to be over and celebrate "a season that we faced overcoming many difficulties. Today that the result rewards us, it could be easy to leave behind what we've been through, but I - says the black-green coach - remember everything and also in light of how much we've done, our journey acquires even greater value". True: before the road became "easier - says Grosso - there were climbs and curves: credit to the boys for having had an extraordinary season, which we want to close well by doing our best in these last two games. We owe it to the owners and the club". In this light, we should read Grosso's announcements regarding forced changes - Mazzitelli stopped in Cremona, Toljan during the week - and others that will suggest to him the ambitions of the many available and the many who are still looking for goals (Laurientè is top scorer today) and who Grosso is keeping a close eye on. "You don't change for the sake of changing, but to grow: the best eleven will go on the field", says the Sassuolo coach, and almost 'warns' Catanzaro. That against Sassuolo pushes the former Pietro Iemmello (16 goals so far) and entrusts the task of defending a possible sharp one to another former player like Mirko Pigliacelli.
