by Stefano FoglianiSASSUOLOThe series A they've already done it, and they've done it well, if that matters, so it's not out of the question that, after having conquered it on the pitch, they'll do it again. It's not so much a question of whether they'll do it next season, but whether they'll do it again wearing the black-green jersey, since we're talking about the three black-green players whose contracts expire at the end of the season. Filippo Romagna, Pedro Obiang e Jeremy Toljan they are players of the Sassuolo only from a technical point of view, thanks to the contractual expiration which is one of the first knots that the management will be called to untie. Also in agreement, obviously, with three players who have given a lot to Sassuolo anyway, since we are talking about leaders of Grosso's dressing room, two of whom - Obiang and Romagna - are also used to wearing, often, the captain's armband. Keep them? Leave them? And what do they think? A nice puzzle, which will take time to unravel: on the one hand, the profiles (important experience, equally solid background) make them reasonably attractive prey for high-profile 'B' or perhaps for some newly promoted and/or newly relegated team, on the other hand, Sassuolo which is 'rebuilding', forced to re-establish itself with a view to the top division, is forced to study how profiles of this kind can or cannot be useful to the cause. Not so much in terms of continuous employment - we are talking about three 'mature' players, two over 30 and one born in 1997 - but rather in terms of contribution in terms of dedication and sense of belonging. In addition, it goes without saying, to the contribution to the daily work on the pitch. All three arrived in 2019, Sassuolo then coached by Roberto De Zerbi: Toljan played 171 games in 6 seasons, Obiang and Romagna, having gone through long periods of stoppage, stopped the taximeter at 118 and 43. To know if the taximeter starts running again, patience is needed, but there is plenty of time to understand how it ends. The rumors are silent today; the radio market, for now, shows due respect to the symbols, but it is easy to imagine that the carousel will start turning in a little while.
