"We want to identify a credible, serious and local entity"

Il Municipality of Ferrara breaks the ice by announcing the definitive break with Joe Tacopina e Marcello Follano, whose concessions will soon be revoked Mazza Stadium e sports center in via Copparo. Mayor Fabbri and Sports Councilor Carità are working on a Spal that will make us forget the failed American ownership and will make the hearts of the white and blue fans beat again like in the golden years.

"On Thursday, together with the Sports Councillor Francesco Carità, we sent a new letter to Spal to obtain official clarifications on their position – explains Mayor Alan Fabbri –. Despite the seriousness of the situation, we continue not to receive any communication. In fact, we had to learn the outcome of the affair from the newspapers and federal documents. We do not intend to resign ourselves to seeing a sports heritage, composed of an excellent youth sector that belongs to all of Ferrara. For this reason, we are working to identify a new credible, serious and local entity that can give life to a new sports club and bring back enthusiasm among fans and citizens".

As is known, the municipal administration will make use of the provisions of article 52, paragraph 10 of the Internal Organizational Rules of the Figs (Noif), a rule specifically designed to protect the sporting continuity of cities affected by serious corporate events. This article allows the mayor of the affected municipality to start a public procedure to identify a new sporting entity, through a expression of interest, and to propose their admission in excess of the championship of Excellence. The expression of interest will be published during the next week – approximately between Tuesday and Wednesday – and will be reserved for subjects in possession of the requirements requested by the federal regulations.

The goal is to gather concrete and sustainable proposals to submit to the FIGC, capable of guaranteeing an immediate restart. "Ferrara deserves a solid, transparent football project that lives up to its sporting history - comments the Sports Councilor Francesco Carità -. We will work with the utmost commitment to guarantee a serious transition, respectful of the rules and above all of the fans, who in these years have never stopped believing in these colors". One of the most important novelties is the one regarding the convention contracts of the symbolic structures of Spal, which the Municipality of Ferrara is determined to remove from the availability of the current stars and stripes ownership. Specifically, a letter will be sent next week to communicate the start of the procedure for the revocation of the concessions relating to the Mazza stadium and the Fabbri sports center.

"A necessary decision, based on the protection of the public interest - continues Mayor Fabbri -, which failed with the exclusion of the company from the professional championship". In the meantime, there is no particular news coming from via Copparo, where President Tacopina continues to dance between bankruptcy and an unlikely restart from the amateurs. Next week is destined to bring clarity on every front, finally.
