Spal triumphs 3-0 against Gubbio and secures the playouts

FERRARAMission accomplished. There Spal liquidate the Gubbio with a clear 3-0, achieving a victory worth its weight in gold. The three points obtained at the Mazza stadium – where Antenucci and his teammates had not made full points for over five months – in fact allow the white and blues to overcome Milan Futuro in extremis (stopped by a draw at home by Vis Pesaro) and therefore play the playout in a privileged position. The Spal lineup is the one announced, with Paghera returning to the midfield after five games out. However, Mister Baldini has to review his plans during the warm-up, when Fiordaliso experiences a problem with his flexor that forces the technical staff not to risk him. Zammarini comes in, who is deployed as a right-sided midfielder, moving Calapai back to the defense line. Spal is expected to attack straight away, but instead Gubbio starts better. The first chance is for Fontana's team: Bruscagin slips near the penalty area, giving the ball to Spina who passes to D'Ursi, whose conclusion is answered by Galeotti.

After the break, Spal came out of their shell, protesting animatedly for a rather decisive intervention against Spini who then concluded just over. The white-blues' pressure was rewarded immediately after the half hour: on the developments of a free kick in which everything happened, from a cross from Awua to a crossbar from Molina, Arena found the necessary coordination to inflate the net giving Spal the lead. It was a favorable moment for the white-blues, who came close to doubling the score twice with Spini: first the number 40 kicked at Bolletta on a great ball from Calapai, then he headed high on a cross from Zammarini. After the break, Spal returned to the field determined to close the game.

It only takes two minutes for the home team to further direct the match towards the white and blues: Molina's work offers a great chance to Parigini who diagonally strikes Bolletta. Only Spal is on the pitch, and on the cross of the new entrant D'Orazio comes the hat-trick of Spini who heads the ball to put the exclamation point on the victory. Baldini's team could run riot, but first Spini and then D'Orazio fail to land the blow. Only good news is expected from Solbiate Arno, where Milan Futuro grabs the equaliser in the final but it is not enough to counter-overtake Spal. Nothing to be done for Lucchese, who beats Torres but will be forced to play for their permanence in Lega Pro in the playouts against Sestri Levante, pirates in Carpi. They go down to D series instead Legnago Salus, who do not need the coup on the Ascoli pitch to catch the play-off train.

For Spal, however, safety is still to be achieved, but finally the light at the end of the tunnel can be seen.
