Spal gets a draw in Sassari against Torres, but the standings remain critical. Baldini's team is third to last.

La Spal draw wide to Sassari, on the field that historically tells her better than anyone else, given that she has never lost there in nine trips. And she stops the Torres third in the standings, which they had already defeated in the first leg by 1-0, conquering the fifth clean sheets of its championship, as it explains its precarious standings. Paradoxically, however, from what is perhaps its best away game of the season, Spal only gets a boost in morale, because for the game developed and the chances created, these sound more like two more points lost, rather than a point gained.

And the standings gets worse, because at the same time Milan Futuro the team of Baldini is third to last, having lost - with Dossena on the bench - both direct clashes. So the consolations come from the performance (which marks the third useful result in the last four away games in which Spal has lost only in Pineto on an own goal), and from having distanced themselves by another point from the last place of Legnago, now at -5: the last three days will only serve to establish who, with equal results, will be saved in the probable playout between Spal and Milan, since now the sixth-last place is also mathematically unattainable. Only the theoretical, faint hope of three victories that would serve to skip Lucchese and Milan and leave Sestri Levante at -9, remains, but as is well understood, it is only a very unlikely hypothesis (with the satiated Ascoli, Perugia and Carpi the Ligurians have a beautiful calendar ahead of them). Unless the Tuscan club blows up.

For the record, in the last two days Spal and Milan will swap opponents Vis Pesaro and Gubbio, while the next one schedules Spal-Pontedera - with the Tuscans now in contention for the playoffs - and Milan Futuro-Ternana. In Sassari, thanks also to a centre-forward who is finally a centre-forward who helps the team to move up and play, Spal played better than Torres who only had a brief flash per half and created more. But if Rao misses 4 goals like the ones he has missed since he entered the field, goodbye three points. They would have been very useful: now the chase for the fourth-last place starts again with a handicap.
