Torino-Frosinone 0-0: few emotions and one point each

Turin, 21 April 2024 - Il Frosinone goes to the house of Turin on this thirty-third day of Series A to try to get out of the red zone after the 2-2 draw in Naples. On the other hand, the Granata, fresh from the draw in the derby against Juve, want to consolidate their ninth place with a victory and keep their European hopes alive. Di Francesco confirms Brescianini on the attacking midfield, with Soule e Cheddar in front, while Barrenechea is in the median with Mazzitelli. Juric has outside Sanabria, favorite okereke close to Zapata with Vlasic in support. In midfield Linetty and Ilic in the middle with Bellanova and Vojvoda wide. All under the orders of Antonio Rapuano.

First half

Torino's first ring came in the sixth minute with Linetty who tries from distance, but his shot is very far from Turati's goal. Frosinone responds with a more personal action than usual Soule who first goes away with a tunnel on Rodriguez and then kicks on goal with his left foot and the ball goes just wide, the first real thrill of this match in the 15th minute. Let's see if the match now lights up after an initial quarter of an hour dominated by the dribbling in midfield and with a pace that isn't exactly effervescent. Cheddar on the right out against two he tries to leave, but Tameze closes in the corner from which a shot arises Valeri da outside area but 32 misses the target with his left foot. It does almost everything well Mazziettlli: Ilic slips, the 36 takes the ball away from him in midfield, he runs towards the goal along the central corridor, no one comes to catch him and he shoots from the edge but weak and on top of Milinkovic who makes it his own. In the 41st minute another chance for Frosinone with Soulè who triggers Lirola, the former Sassuolo crosses first to Cheddar and with tacco look for Sunday's goal but Milinkovic-Savic is there. It ends first time 0-0 at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. 

Second half

At the start of the second half Zapata gets rid of Lirola, but then completely misses the pass to Okereke and, therefore, a potential opportunity for the home team vanishes. In the 55th minute the pace remains low, Frosinone doesn't want to concede anything but knows they need the three points, Torino would like to regain success after two draws. Okereke centers himself from the left and puts it on the right, thinks about it and then, also prompted by the public, goes for a shot with the inside but the ball is not very angled and Turati rejects it. Sensational risk for Torino! Rodriguez as the last man slips and loses the ball, Walu Cheddar takes her away and runs towards the door, decisive Bellanova who managed to come back and make the shot of the former Bari player more difficult who nevertheless earned a corner. Linetty stops Cheddira with a foul and is booked, free kick for Frosinone from 25 meters slightly shifted to the right, Valeri and Soulè on the ball. Four-man barrier for MIlinkovic, with Vlasic crocodile, Soulè touches for Valeri who kicks hard under the barrier, but Vlasic is there. On the turnaround in front, Zapata does well to slip away, but Romagnoli does even better as he slides into the corner, closing the door on the Colombian. First substitution of the match, made by Torino: outside okereke and inside the large initial exclusion Tony Sanabria in the 67th minute. Soulè tries to volley with his left foot from the edge of the area after a ball thrown back by the defense from a corner, but the shot is wide. Potential opportunity Frosinone who, following a relaunch from Turati, runs on the counterattack with Brescianini, the ball looks for Cheddira in the area who gets rid of Buongiorno's body and then kicks at Milinkovic. Rapuano, however, stops everything due to a foul by the former Bari player on the Granata captain. Frosinone again with Zortea crossing from the right to try Cheddar but it doesn't get there by very little. Fifteen minutes plus injury time at the end and, with the exception of these last two minutes, the leitmotif of the match continues to be the same: lots of dribbling by both teams, a few too many inaccuracies in the last twenty meters and few clear scoring opportunities.

Toro changes again: Vojvoda out for Lazaro, still no changes made by Di Francesco. After two minutes here is the first guest substitution: Seck for Brescianini, therefore the center of gravity rises. Bellanova tries to escape in his lane, Seck stops him with his body and commits a foul, a free kick from the short side of the penalty area for Torino, with Ilic even going towards goal but the shot ends up very high. Again, always, Raul Bellanova who this time focuses and tries the shot which however ends high with 5' plus injury time to go. Four minutes of added time, with Seck trying to restart but making a complete mistake, giving the ball to Tameze. Decisive save by Romagnoli on Zapata! Tameze from the edge slots in for Duvan who controls, turns and shoots with his right foot and Romagnoli slides and lifts it over the crossbar. Reviewing the replay, however, the eventual goal would have been annulled due to the Colombian's starting offside. He ends up here, Torino and Frosinone drew 0-0. The Granatas rise to 46 and remain in ninth place with Fiorentina at -2 and with two games in hand, while Frosinone remains third from last with 28 points tied with Udinese who however must finish the match with Roma.
